[Fast-Food Era] The following three local FM radio channels and a local cable television channel, including Radio Beijing International, Beijing Story Radio, Beijing Youth Radio, and BRTV Youth Channel, have all been off the air since January 1, 2023. Here in Beijing, FM 92.3 MHz, FM 95.4 MHz, and FM 98.2 MHz have no signal now. I personally hope that the following two state-run AM radio channels, including China Media Group (CMG)'s CNR Voice of Reading (AM 747 kHz in Beijing) and CMG's CGTN Radio (AM 846 kHz in Beijing), can also be aired on vacant FM frequencies one day in the future. It is important to note that the tuner function of various devices, including NOKIA cellphones and household high-fidelity stereo systems of SAST, PHILIPS, SONY, JBL, and YAMAHA, has no AM, but only FM. For me, listening to the radio on FM and listening to the radio online are two totally different experiences. First of all, unlike web streaming, FM radio never buffers every single day under normal circumstances. Second, for listeners, unlike web streaming, FM radio does not have a time delay. Last but not least, unlike web streaming, FM radio creates a sense of intimacy integrated into the local cultural life.
