有時碰到客戶來公司拜訪，老闆往往會滔滔不絕地介紹公司、産品、未來願景、發展前景等，長篇大論，生怕别人不知道。
Sometimes when customers visit the company, the boss often gives a long speech on the company, products, future vision, development prospects, etc., for fear that others will not know.
很多客戶礙于情面，隻好耐着性子聽，不好意思表現出不耐煩，偶爾還要附和兩句，吹捧一下。
For the sake of affection, many customers have to listen patiently, embarrassed to show impatience, and occasionally go along with a few words of flattery.
如果碰到個脾氣沒那麼好的，或者相對直接點的外國人，他可能就會來一句：Please make a long story short!（請您長話短說！）
當然，make short of long省略了story，在口語中也是可以的，表示同一種意思，就是“别廢話，說重點”。
在英式英語中，一般會用cut來代替make，這個短語就變成了cut a long story short或者cut short of long。
In British English, cut is usually used instead of make, and this phrase becomes cut a long story short or cut short of long.
