On May 17th, the "Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities, Bashu Masters" Zhang Daqian and Chen Zizhuang Fine Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition was launched in Chongqing Hong Art Museum, exhibiting more than 100 paintings and calligraphy works of Zhang Daqian and Chen Zizhuang in various periods. The exhibition will be on display until 17 June, and the public can visit the exhibition for free.

The calligraphy and painting exhibition is guided by the Propaganda Department of the Party Working Committee of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area and the Social Development Bureau of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, sponsored by Chongqing Hong Art Museum, and co-organized by Chengdu Shishanfang, Yuyuezhai and Fengyage, aiming to vigorously promote the cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation between Chengdu and Chongqing, and further enhance the popularity and influence of Bashu culture in the country and even the world.

Tian Yuan, director of the Hong Art Museum, introduced that Bashan Shushui has given birth to countless artists, Zhang Daqian and Chen Zizhuang as the most shining double stars, such a large-scale joint exhibition of calligraphy and painting between the two masters is the first time in Chongqing, and the works on display well present the characteristics of the times of the artistic creation of the two art giants.

The calligraphy and painting exhibition exhibits about 30 works by Zhang Daqian. Born in Neijiang, Sichuan, Zhang Daqian mainly imitated antiquity in his early years, and went to Dunhuang to copy murals in middle age.

"When Zhang Daqian created this painting in 1949, his painting style and painting language reached their peak."
