of a kind有两个含义：
1.同类的
They’re all of a kind.他们都是同类的。
They were two of a kind, from the same sort of background.
他们俩是一类人，有相同的背景。
They are two of a kind and totally unreliable.
他俩是同类货色，都是不可靠的人。
2.质量低劣的，不怎么样的，名不副实的，徒有其名的（指不如本应有的那么好）
Town planning of a kind got underway after the war.
战后进行了名不副实的城市规划。
There is good news of a kind for the Prime Minister
对总理来说也算是有个好消息。
She finds solace of a kind in alcohol.
她从酒精中多少得到一些安慰。
They made me tea of a kind, but I couldn't drink it.
他们给我沏了不太好的茶，我没法喝。
She gave us coffee of a kind,but we couldn’t drink it.
她给我们的咖啡质量不好，我们简直不能喝下去。
