论CMMI与敏捷开发

I got a training about the CMMI from colleague in the team meeting at yestoday . I heared the CMMI long time ago, but it is the first time start to learn it. What's the CMMI? The offiical definition is Capability Maturity Model Integration.  It is a way to evaluate the produce ability of software company. I got many detail information from the training. In all, my first feeling is we need prepare so many documents of our development in CMMI. I don't think it is good for the software developing, but it is really to be benefical to company.  It seems the developer should focus on the document rather than the product design. In my opinion, I am prefer to Agile Software Development. Because it is focus on the product design and user experience rather than document. Developer can contribute his idea and time in the prodcut rather than to maintan the consistent of implement and document. I think almost of the programmer is the lazy people ^_^. They don't like to write document. If the boss require them to write so many documents, they will feel their work is boring and discontent. So, how can you get the good document and good product from them with that mood?

Any way. I don't say we needn't the document in our development , the document is important. But we should reduce it to least. We should spend our time in the product design and give the good user experience. Actually, the CMMI and Agile SD are not the same thing. CMMI focus on the process management and Agile SD focus on the development. But they have the same goal is make the software deliver on time with high So, if your company is developing a large system, just like Operate System, I suggest using the CMMI. And you can use the Agile SD in the sub feature development.
