骄阳盛夏里，是少年们最肆意的青春，他们从五湖四海而来，又奔赴天南海北。
一起来学学毕业相关的英语表达吧。
母校：Alma Mater
英语中如何表达母校呢？mother school？
不是哦，母校的英文表达其实是Alma Mater /ˌælmə ˈmɑ:tə(r)/，这一单词来自拉丁语，本意为kind mother，慈母。
除此之外，old school也可以用来表示母校，它还有守旧之意。
师哥、师姐怎么说？
那么英语中怎么称呼自己的师哥、师姐、师弟、师妹呢？
如果你想的是brother和sister，那赶紧换个思路，英语中最常用的词其实是“校友”。
校友/男校友
alumnus /əˈlʌmnəs/
alumni /əˈlʌmnaɪ/ （复数）
女校友
alumna /əˈlʌmnə/
alumnae /əˈlʌmniː/ （复数）
一般来说，使用alumni（男校友复数形式）来表达“校友”这个概念就可以了。
例：
The following information about Birmingham alumni has been collected from recent news reports.
关于伯明翰校友的信息都来源于最近的新闻。
当然啦，不想用alumni时，下面这些表达，也可以表达“校友”的含义——
We're both majoring in business at Stanford University.
我们是在斯坦福大学学商务的同门。
He shares the same major as me but is senior/junior to me.
他是跟我同专业的师哥/师弟。
He's in my same major but a year ahead.
他是跟我同专业的上届师兄。
She's in my major but a year below/behind me.
她是跟我同专业的下届师妹。

毕业典礼
毕业是一场盛大的离别庆典，其中最少不了的就是各种纪念仪式。
毕业典礼的英文表达，英美略有不同：
commencement ceremony
（美式英语）
graduation ceremony
（英式英语）
毕业的那一天被称作graduation day，也可以叫做commencement day。
Commencement /kə'mɛnsmənt/本义为“开始”：
at the commencement of the twentieth century
20世纪伊始
动词形式“commence”：
Education commences at the mother's knee.
教育始于母亲膝下。
毕业典礼用commencement这个词 ，蕴含着新起点、新开始之意：
Graduation is not only an end to a period, but also a commencement of a new period.
毕业不仅仅是过去的结束，也是新阶段的开始。
学位服
学位服一般被称为cap and gown，即学位帽和学位袍。
披在背后的垂布，被叫做hood（披肩布）。
《律政俏佳人》
学位帽最常用的叫法是cap，又叫square academic cap、graduate cap。
不过，“学位帽”还有个有趣的说法：“托泥板”，mortarboard ['mɔ:təbɔ:d]。
Mortarboard=mortar（砂浆）+board（板子）。
这个词本意是泥瓦匠砌墙时用来hold mortar（托砂浆）的“托泥板”，后引申出“学位帽”的意思。
穿上学位服除了用put on，还可用don/dɔn/这个书面词：don your cap and gown。
拨穗
拨穗这个仪式用英语表达是：turning of the tassel。
学位帽上的小穗叫做tassel /ˈtæsl/（流苏），通常是校长或系主任，为每个毕业生拨穗，象征着from candidate to graduate。
授予学位后校长将穗由右边拨到左边，就表示毕业学有所成了。
例：
This summer more than 5,400 students turned their tassels as they graduated from the university.
这个夏天，5400多名学生参加了拨穗仪式，从这所大学毕业。
散伙饭
散伙饭可不是什么last dinner，而是farewell dinner。
在毕业离别的时刻，同学间会互赠farewell present（饯别礼物），开farewell party（欢送会），欢送会上有人会发表farewell speech（告别演讲）。
例：
Attending a farewell party has long been a campus ritual that marks the end of one's college life.
吃散伙饭早已成为一种校园仪式，标志着大学生活的结束。
论文致谢
论文让无数学子煎熬数月，而其中唯一能够自由发挥尽情表达的部分，要数论文致谢（acknowledgement）了。
广大学子的毕业致谢或真情流露、或妙趣横生让人忍俊不禁，总之是花样百出。
