On April 29th, GG Bond: Racing 72H produced by Wingsing Animation, a Guangdong company, was released. Up to now, the film has grossed over 53 million yuan. Previously, GG Bond: Dino Diary broke the box office record for animated films in China during the May Day holiday in 2021. Such achievements of the GG Bond series show the accelerating development of the cultural industry in Guangdong.
The 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair will be held in Shenzhen from June 7th to 11th. In recent years, Guangdong has focused on building a leading model for digital culture, cultural creativity, and the integration of culture and tourism, which has achieved new progress.
According to data, in 2021, the added value of Guangdong's cultural and related industries reached 691 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%, ranking first in China for 19 consecutive years.
What's more, currently, there are 325,000 cultural industry legal entities, 10,552 cultural enterprises, and 3.045 million participants in Guangdong Province, all ranking first in the country.
Guangdong's cultural enterprises cover 9 major categories and 146 sub-industries in the cultural industry. Among them, 7 major categories have a revenue share of over 10% in the country. The cultural service industry focusing on content production has grown rapidly, with a 323% increase in revenue from 2013 to 2021.
For example, Guangdong's animation industry accounts for about 1/3 of the national output, and its film box office accounts for about 1/9 of the national total.
In 2022, the operating revenue of Guangdong's digital and creative industries was 572.8 billion yuan, of which the operating revenue of the game industry was 211.5 billion yuan, accounting for about 4/5 of the national total.
Guangdong's cultural manufacturing industry is accelerating its digital transformation, from which a group of globally competitive unicorns has emerged. There are 4,267 cultural manufacturing enterprises in the province, with a total operating revenue of 1.04 trillion yuan, accounting for 1/5 of the national total.
In terms of the electronic sports industry, Guangdong's esports market accounts for 2/3 of the country, with an international e-sports center jointly built by Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan.
