This was the oldest trick in the book - last night mummy told me she would leave for Yanjiao and conspired with me to leave you in the dark. She left in the early morning when you were still sleeping like a log. After you woke up, you lept out of bed and rushed to the wing bedroom where mummy usually stays in the morning but as quickly you came back, kind of whining, “Mummy is not there.” You lay beside me and repeatedly whimpered for mummy. “Mummy has gone shopping and will be back soon,” I said in a soothing tone. Half an hour later you snapped out of it and, seemingly having seen through mummy’s little game, came to a surprising conclusion which indicated you had woken up to a cruel fact you had to come to terms with. You thought out loud: “Mummy must have gone to Xiaolaolao’s place.”
这是我和妈妈的老套路：昨天晚上妈妈跟我说她要去燕郊，私下明确不能让你知道。今天一大早她就走了，当时你还在熟睡。你醒后，翻身翻身下床冲向次卧，一般一大早妈妈都会在次卧。你马上就回来了，带着哭腔说，“妈妈不在。”你在我旁边躺下，哭着要妈妈。我安慰说，“妈妈去买东西了。”过了半个小时，你基本上平静下来，同时让我没想到的是，你似乎察觉到了妈妈的伎俩，认清了一个糟心的现实，你没办法也只能接受。你自言自语道：“妈妈肯定是去小姥姥家了。”
