Yingying Zhang’s family has been told that her remains may be in a landfill in Vermilion County.
章莹颖的家属代理律师史蒂文·贝克特（Steve Beckett）2日说，作为豁免协议的一部分，凶手克里斯滕森的辩护团队向检方披露了章莹颖遗体位置。
“The information was provided to the prosecution under an immunity agreement. This information came from the defense lawyers, and that information indicated that the remains, as it traced down, could be found in a landfill in Vermilion County,” said the family’s attorney, Steve Beckett.
“作为豁免协议的一部分，凶手克里斯滕森的辩护团队向检方披露了章莹颖遗体位置。该信息表明遗体可能会在弗米利恩郡的垃圾填埋场内找到，”章莹颖的家属代理律师史蒂文·贝克特说。
他同时表示，章家人是在审判结束后的7月25日与检方见面时得知这个消息的。

另据《新闻公报》（The News-Gazette）报道，贝克特当日还表示，原计划于5日在该州萨伏依市举行的章莹颖追悼会被推迟。

The U.S. Attorney's office in the Central District of Illinois said Zhang's remains have not been found. A source close to the investigation said the landfill has not been searched.

In December2017, about six months after Ms. Zhang was last seen, Christensen’s lawyers and the prosecution began negotiating a possible plea agreement, but that eventually fell through.

“Now that the trial is over and the jury has made its decision, we ask the defendant to unconditionally tell us what he knows about Yingying’s location,” Zhang’s father Ronggao told media through an interpreter. “If you have any humanity left in your soul, please help end our torment.”
