On the morning of 9 November 2021, thousands of people gathered in Civic Square in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, to hold an anti-lockdown, anti-vaccination protest.

It is reported that the protest group intends to march to Parliament for what they call "freedom protests."]

The freedoms & rights coalition marched and made their demands, which included ending the lockdown and making it mandatory for vaccinations.

The protesters included a group of about 30 people who came from Whakatāne. These people, including teachers and even a principal, have opposed the requirement that teachers receive their first dose of the vaccine by Nov. 15.

Wellington City Council said it expected traffic disruptions in the city centre and delays after 10:30am.

Bus services in the capital Wellington are expected to be severely disrupted to circumvent the protesters.

Meanwhile, in Auckland, a group of protesters also protested near National Highway 1. Among them, a police officer was bitten by a protester at the northern border. The group caused a traffic jam for more than an hour.
