The infrared camera showed two quadruped animals coming out of the forest one after the other, and their cubs jumped towards the camera, full of cuteness. Dai Xiaoming, a wildlife conservation expert and senior engineer at the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Changning County, Yunnan Province, determined that the two animals were a pair of forest musk mother and child based on the fact that the two animals had a wide white band on each side of their necks and the shape of their ears and limbs.
According to Dai Xiaoming, the forest musk is a semi-arboreal ungulate, timid and alert, mainly active in the area of 2000 meters to more than 2800 meters above sea level, belongs to the national key protected wild animals, was listed in the "IUCN Red List of Endangered Species", rated as an endangered species.
Dai Xiaoming said that the infrared camera installed in the reserve has repeatedly taken images of adult forest musk activities, and the shooting of forest musk cubs is the first time, which shows that the whole reserve is less disturbed by humans, and the forest musk population living in the reserve can reproduce well, and the image data provides an important scientific reference for studying the biodiversity of the reserve.
Yang Yaojun, deputy director of the Management and Protection Bureau of the Lancangjiang County-level Nature Reserve in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, said that in the next step, the Management and Protection Bureau of the Protected Area will continue to increase the intensity of ecological environmental protection, and increase the monitoring of the activity area of forest musk, synchronously do a good job in the publicity and protection of wild forest musk and other animals and plants, and strive to create a good atmosphere for the whole people to protect the ecological environment.
