(Correspondent: Li Zhongyang) On November 15, 2018, the Youth Volunteer Service Brigade of the School of Physics and Electronic Science of Hubei Normal University and the Secondary School Science Education Association of Hubei Normal University launched a volunteer service activity with the theme of "Science Classroom" at Nanzhulin Primary School in Huangshigang District. This activity aims to let primary school students learn more about the frontiers of science, inspire them to think scientifically, cultivate their interest in science and develop students' current thinking to improve their comprehensive ability.
At 13:30, the volunteers gathered and began to leave for Nanzhulin Elementary School, where they arrived at their destination before 14:00 and contacted the head of the primary school to prepare for the preliminary stage of the activity (copy PPT, etc.). At 14:00, the activity officially began with the ringing of the primary school bell. First, a volunteer will talk to the students about science and increase their interest in science. As the volunteer spoke, the atmosphere became active and the students were very motivated. Then the volunteers told the students about the Newton pendulum, the inertial demonstrator, and the relationship between air velocity and pressure, and other related principles, and through the teaching aids, the students could more intuitively and clearly observe scientific phenomena. The students looked at the related phenomena of various demonstrators, became more interested in it, and actively participated in it. Finally, about ten minutes after the end of the activity, the volunteers let the students who wanted to personally feel the teaching aids come to the stage to operate, and the students actively went on stage to experiment by themselves, and they felt a surprise of discovery when they saw these phenomena, and they were very happy.
As a result, the activity ended smoothly with the good discipline, cooperation and full preparation of the volunteers. It is believed that on the one hand, this activity allows students to understand some scientific knowledge and will carefully observe the surrounding life, which is full of physical science. On the other hand, volunteers can also get the opportunity to exercise themselves and have more experience in their future lives.
