With the development of the economy, the improvement of national living standards, and the reduction of aircraft operating costs, I also have the opportunity to travel by plane, for this reason, I also specially Baidu aircraft safety, the result is: from the accident rate, aircraft is the safest means of transportation. Any means of transport is dangerous, railways, roads, ships, planes. However, the accident rate of aircraft is the lowest of all means of transport.
But why is airplane the safest means of transportation? Obviously, every time I see an air crash in the news report, it is so shocking.
Many friends are no strangers to the American film "Captain Sully", "Captain Sully" successfully tells the story of the captain of National Airlines Flight 1549, in the case of engine failure, successfully forced landing on the Hudson River, saving 155 passengers and crew.
Us Airways Flight 1549 encountered flocks of birds shortly after takeoff, birds were sucked into the engine of the aircraft, and also crashed into the wings on both sides, the engine thrust on both sides of the aircraft was suddenly zero, various warnings in the cockpit were heard, the captain Sully immediately reported the situation to the ground, the ground instructed the nearby diversion airport, but Sully, after the response, made the decision to force the plane to land on the Hudson River, after the successful forced landing, the Coast Guard quickly rushed to the rescue, and finally the crew and passengers all survived.
From the beginning of the take-off to the emergency landing, a total of no more than 6 minutes, from encountering birds to landing safely, a total of 208 seconds, the film is based on a true story, so these thrilling moments are all displayed in less than 10 minutes of watching the film.
If the film only shows people how much energy and wisdom is contained in everything that Captain Sully does. The director and screenwriter certainly took this into account, and the success made us ordinary people who have no professional knowledge and not so much personal experience understand how precious it is to be a calm and literate captain in the face of a crisis situation.
When all the crew and passengers were safe, the heroic captain, who was supposed to be greeted with flowers and applause, was investigated by the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board). Because at that time, after Captain Sully reported the situation to the ground, the ground gave two backup airports around which they could be forced to land, but Captain Sully chose to land on the Hudson River. He was greatly questioned, and he knew that there was the best solution, but he chose the most dangerous solution.
Captain Sully must prove his choice, otherwise he is a reckless man, a great liar who risks 155 lives! In the long process of waiting for the investigation, Captain Sully is under tremendous pressure, his reputation, reputation, and even 42 years of flying experience, the 1 million passenger traffic will be cleared, and his house and pension may also be recovered.
NTSB's verdict finally came out: whether it was a computer simulation flight or an artificial simulation flight, it proved that under the flight parameters at that time, the aircraft could completely return to the field, or fly to the nearest diversion airport to land. In the face of such unbelievable results, the audience's emotions were also ignited!
At the hearing, Captain Sully and his co-pilot needed to explain to the committee the plausibility of their decision.
Captain Sully said that the pilots flying in the simulator were directly disposed of when they knew in advance that the plane would stop at a double engine and knew in advance which airport to fly. However, he and his co-pilot were only 208 seconds in the air at the time, and they needed time to judge and dispose of it. The pilot of the simulated flight was therefore required to remove 35 seconds of air time before disposing of the aircraft.
NTSB hearing officials felt the request was reasonable and they agreed. The pilots of the simulated flight eliminated the reaction time of 35 seconds under all other conditions, and then, in every experiment, the aircraft was destroyed without exception. The plot has ushered in a huge reversal.
At this point, everyone finally understood what Captain Sully had done and what they meant. Captain Sully won not only the NTSB hearing, but everyone's hearts.
This summer, because of my work relationship, I went to The Sky Feather Flight Training Co., Ltd., a training base for Hainan Airlines, to learn safety knowledge during flight from the crew.
I have seen that all pilots and flight attendants have to undergo rigorous training, and their training is very practical, such as how to deal with fire on the aircraft, such as how to deal with emergency landings on the water, such as how to deal with the thunderstorm weather encountered by the aircraft during the flight, such as how to deal with the failure of the indicator light that the hatch may affect the air pressure in the cabin.
After the end of the training, they must be assessed, and the assessment is qualified to be qualified for the post, but this qualification is not lifelong, every once in a while, they need to be re-evaluated, and pilots and flight attendants are a profession that will never allow "hand students".
Because during the week of training, we saw a lot of dangerous situations. Someone can't help but ask the teacher, how many of these simulated dangerous situations will really happen in reality? The answer is – maybe a pilot won't meet in his lifetime.
So why spend so much energy and time practicing situations that you may not encounter at all? Because the requirements of the airline for safety are extremely high, although the probability of occurrence is not large, but once it occurs, it is a hundred percent accident, so every probability that may occur cannot be let go.
At the end of Captain Sully, a recording of the cockpit call was played at the hearing. Everyone once again witnessed the whole process of the emergency landing, but this time everyone knew exactly what had happened in those 208 seconds, and without Captain Sully's super professional operation technology and super calm professionalism, it would not be possible to achieve a safe result for everyone.
Pilots should not only practice operational skills in their usual training, but also exercise a good mentality, and in the event of an emergency, they can calmly deal with the mentality. The same is true in life, the ability to deal with difficulties and solve problems can be deliberately practiced, in order to calculate more than win, in the real encounter with huge choices, will increase the probability of winning.
