Autumn is coming, in order to prevent dry and itchy skin, many people have the habit of rubbing body moisturizer, especially for infants and young children with delicate skin, moisturizer is indispensable.

But moms and dads should be careful when choosing moisturizer for their children, some common moisturizers on the market may contain fragrances and other allergens, if the baby is repeatedly exposed to the risk of damaging the skin!
Repeated exposure of infants and young children to fragrances and other allergens may damage the skin
A Hong Kong agency recently tested 40 baby-specific body lotions on the market, 15 of which claim to be able to be used to apply both the face and the body.
The good news is that none of the samples detected plasticizers, heavy metals, or microorganisms.
The bad news is that 22 samples contained fragrance-sensitizing substances, ranging from 0.0018% to about 0.45%.
Among them, "baby magic gentle baby lotion - original baby scent" and "aveeno baby baby lavender soothing moisturizing milk" detected the largest number of fragrance sensitization substances, 10 and 8 kinds respectively, but the labels of these two products did not indicate the relevant substances.
It was also detected that the "aveeno baby baby lavender soothing moisturizing milk" sample contained two spice substances of concern, including the eu banned neo-antelope aldehyde (hicc) and antelope aldehyde (bmhca) banned in cosmetics, with a total fragrance sensitization content of about 0.45%, which is the highest total amount of fragrance allergens in the samples!
"Aveeno Baby Lavender Soothing Moisturizing Milk" was detected with antelopealdehyde
What are Neo-Antelopealdehyde and Antelopealdehyde? What harms will it cause?
According to the opinion issued by the European Union Consumer Safety Scientific Committee, among the 26 allergenic fragrance substances, New Antelope Aldehyde is the most allergenic substance, and it is also one of the spice substances with the most consumer complaints, the European Commission has amended the Cosmetics Regulation in August 2017 to prohibit the use of New Antelope aldehyde in cosmetics, and from August 23 this year, cosmetics that violate relevant regulations cannot be sold in the EU.
As for antelopealdehyde, the European Union in January classified it as a reproductively toxic Class 1b substance, i.e. a substance presumed to be reproductively toxic to humans, and it is expected that this fragrance substance will be banned by the EU.
To strengthen the protection of infants, manufacturers are advised to ban antelopealdehyde and other fragrance substances that lack sufficient safety data support, and parents are also urged to stop the relevant emollient products for their children.
Some emollient products contain benzyl alcohol, linalool or limonene, and infants who are particularly sensitive to fragrance ingredients are urged to avoid these products.
I would like to remind Moms and Dads to pay attention to the body moisturizer that advertises "sweet sleep", "sleep peacefully" or has a lavender scent, because the lavender ingredient or naturally contains substances such as linalool, limonene and geraniol, the first two can form a highly allergenic substance after oxidation, and it is recommended that parents should pay attention to the expiration date of the product, reduce the chance of breeding microorganisms, and derive oxides.
