Luke Shaw: Most want to play alongside David Beckham as a full-back and want to score more goals

Live bar November 6 news England official website recently interviewed Luke Shaw, asked him a series of "if you can ... What do you want to do" question, and the Manchester United left-back answer is also very interesting, from the predecessors David Beckham and Ashley Cole, to former US President Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth II.

If you could pick a football veteran to fight alongside, who would you choose?

This question is so difficult! Of course I can't say Ronaldo because I'm fighting alongside him! I've loved Ashley Cole since I was a kid, but if I said I wanted to play with him, I wouldn't have a chance! If Ashley Cole hadn't been chosen – although I've always admired him – then I would say Beckham because he's a double legend for Manchester United and England and a role model for everyone in football.

Speaking of Ashley Cole, I have a lot of respect for him. He has been one of the best left-backs in the world for so many years and naturally the best (left-back) in England. When I was a kid, I used to watch Chelsea games because I was a left-back myself, so I always liked him and wanted to play like him, because I knew that if I could meet his standards, it would prove that I was doing the right thing.

If you can improve your skills in a certain competition, how do you choose?

I want to do better by scoring more goals in the game. Even though I'm a defender, the coaches always tell me I should score more goals every season. I know my job isn't this one, but scoring one goal a year is still not enough. Although I'm a defender, right now, full-backs are also attacking players, so I want to score more goals.

If you could "snatch" some skill from your England teammates, who would you like to "grab"?

While I'm already fast, I'm probably going to "steal" Kyle Walker's speed. He was too fast, and opponents rarely attacked his side, because they knew they couldn't run him, so it was not worth a try. Even when he faced Paris Saint-Germain, players like Mbappe and Neymar knew it wasn't worth trying.

If it were okay to go back in time, when would you like to go back?

Oh my God, I'm going back to the European Championship (final) right away so we can probably win that game, you want me to say that!

No, probably I have to go back to when England won the World Cup. Remember what it was like to have the 2018 World Cup? That team did so well, how much the fans loved it, and I'm sure the same was true for this summer's European Championship – but at the time I was personally more focused on things on the pitch, so not as much as people on the outside noticed.

Go through those moments and you'll realize how important this is to this country! What would happen when England won the World Cup, I can only imagine!

If you could change one thing in the world, what would you want to do?

In my opinion, it could be racism and terrorism. I've been paying attention to their impact lately. I know how bad these things are, and look at how terrible things like 9-11 and the Paris attacks can have on a country.

If you could change something about the football itself, what would you change?

I think at the moment, we should still do something about offside. I don't know if the rules are really such a rule: they say that players must continue to play before the referee raises the flag, but you know that the opponent is offside and you have to wait another 20 seconds until the game is dead. That's wrong because if the offside is clear, they should make a penalty, and if you continue for another 20 seconds, you never know what's going to happen.

What would you say if you could give your 8-year-old self advice?

belch...... Enjoy every moment and have fun. In our game, in our work, you have to be very serious right now, but sometimes it takes away the fact that we're doing what we love, and it's always important to enjoy it, to have fun, to cherish what we're doing that we love.

Of course, not everyone has this right. We are fortunate to have such a privilege. It's important that we enjoy it and have fun.

When it comes to me when I was 8 years old, of course I can say things like "listen to the coach, train hard, do everything well" or something like that, but I think the most important thing for me is to enjoy football and have fun, because as you grow up and get into bigger clubs, things change and you have pressure and expectations. It comes with the job, but the most important thing is to enjoy it, have fun and smile.

If you could make your life story into a movie, who would you like to choose to play yourself?

I love "Boulder" Johnson! I think he's unbelievable, probably the actor I've chosen. But I love the TV series 24 Hours of Terrorism, so I have to say it's Kiefer Sutherland. It's the only drama I'm really obsessed with. I was able to sit down and watch many episodes without moving. Following Sutherland, I watched the "Designated Survivor" series again, and I also loved watching it. So when it comes to actors, I'm a die-hard fan of him.

If you could invite three celebrities to dinner at your house, who would you like to invite?

"Boulder" Johnson, Obama. I chose Kiefer Sutherland before, so I can't choose him here. So I'll choose — very randomly — probably Her Majesty the Queen. What they do, what they do, I find fascinating. It's so interesting to be able to talk to them and see how they work.

My girlfriend and I were recently watching The Crown, which made me more interested in the royal family. I'm interested in conspiracies, and Obama and Her Majesty the Queen certainly know a lot of them, so I'll bring them in and ask what's really going on.

If you could have a second career, what would you want to do?

This question is not difficult for me. I like special forces and things like MI6, or counterterrorism cops and so on. That's all my concern. Something like this makes me feel very emotional, so I'd love to do something like a counter-terror police officer or a secret agent. I also love watching TV dramas on these subjects, and it would be cool to be able to prevent something big in the world from happening!

If you could be someone else for a day, who would you want to be?

My little son. If I could get into his head, I'd like to see why he's so mischievous. He's so much fun! So I want to be my son one day, or be queen one day, or be President Ma Oba one day.
