On the 5th floor of the Akihabara Kaikan in Akihabara, Tokyo, I found something unexpected: a transparent specimen of Ikada Iori. These specimens of animals soaked in liquid, the bones are dyed purple or blue, have an unforgettable dreamy beauty.
Born in 1983, Izumi Tsutomu graduated from the Department of Hydrogenesis and Physics, Faculty of Fisheries, Kitasato University in March 2006. During his college years, he began to study the production method of transparent skeletal specimens, and after graduating, he worked in Tokyo for a period of time before returning to Iwate Prefecture to continue making transparent specimens while working as a fisherman.
It was not until May 2008 that the "New World" transparent specimen series began production. His unique craftsmanship gained attention, so he began to become an artist with full-time production. Various exhibitions and photo albums were published during this period, and as he participated in more and more social activities, his popularity became greater.
Before I went to Japan, I also thought that I would buy his works when I saw them, and the price was not expensive, but in the end I did not start. Two reasons: 1. This thing is liquid, fragile consignment, not portable, in case of customs spot checks are more troublesome; 2. see too many good things, compared to transparent specimens instead of preferred.
However, then Ji Tian Yi made a new attempt at the presentation of transparent specimens, using special craftsmanship, similar to the temple seeds of the British Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo, to be solidified in an integrally formed acrylic, which is more convenient to display and carry.
