When it comes to which emperor of the Ming Dynasty is the most unlucky, it is definitely the Chongzhen Emperor. When he first succeeded to the throne, his father and brother left him with an empty treasury and a mess of flames everywhere. It is said that the Chongzhen Emperor worried about state affairs every day, and he had already given birth to gray hair in his 30s.

Because when Wang Jiayin commanded the Thirty-sixth Battalion, Gao Yingxiang, Li Zicheng, and Zhang Xianzhong were still only one of the thirty-six battalions under his command, and belonged to the younger brothers. At that time, the main force of the Ming army was all encircled and suppressed in Shaanxi, and Wang Jiayin jumped out of the encirclement and entered Shanxi, which was undoubtedly a fish into the sea.
According to the history books, the thieves numbered 160,000, divided into 36 battalions, even broke through Qinshui and Yangcheng, and then attacked the so-called Jiancheng City of Zezhou, but when Wang Jiayin rushed to Liankezhou County, he was blocked by an inconspicuous small village.
Looking for someone to ask to know, the original place is called Dou Zhuang, people sent the nickname "Little Beijing", with Wang Jiayin's strength at that time, directly go north to fight the Ming Dynasty's Beijing that is absolutely sent to death, Beijing I can not fight down, but to fight a projectile land of "Little Beijing" that is always out of the question, right?
But what I didn't expect was that the 100,000-strong army began to attack the city from the beginning of June, and it didn't hit it for three days. Wang Jiayin knew that the nickname "Little Beijing" was really not covered.
This has to start with the Song Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Renzong of Song, a minister named Dou Xuan moved from Fufeng in Shaanxi to Qinshui, Shanxi, and his daughter later entered the palace to make a concubine to Emperor Zhezong of Song. Thanks to this relationship, after Dou Xuan's death, the emperor assigned qudi village to the Dou family as an ancestral tomb, and designated a poor family surnamed Zhang to guard the tomb for generations.
Unexpectedly, thirty years in Hedong and thirty years in Hexi, by the time of the Ming Dynasty, the Dou family had already declined, but the original tomb keeper Zhang Family had prospered. Zhang Quan, the young prince of the Zhang family, was on patrol in Liaodong Province, and when Nurhaci attacked Liaoyang, Zhang Quan led his neck to kill himself, which was called a loyal martyr.
After Zhang Quan's death, his father Zhang Wudian immediately resigned his official post and returned to his hometown, gathering his family to start building the city. At that time, the family did not understand, but Zhang Wudian said: "A corner of Liaoyang is requisitioned, and the world is in turmoil", predicting that the world will change.
Later, the Zhang family lasted nine years to build Douzhuang into a military castle with an east-west, south-north length of 500 meters, and divided into two cities, inside and outside, and there were secret passages between the people's houses in the city, and in case of emergency, they could directly enter the city from the interior. Because Dou Zhuang set up nine doors and nine passes, comparable to Beijing, it was called "Little Beijing" at that time.
After the defeat of the first attack, Wang Jiayin again commanded the army at the end of June of the fourth year of Chongzhen, when Zhang Wudian was dead, and his grandson Zhang Daoli was still far away at Yanmen Gate, leaving only a group of women and children in the family. Zhang Quan's widow Huo Shi led the female dependents and child servants to resist, and fought a bloody battle with Zhang Xianzhong's troops for four days and four nights, repelling the other side again.
Since then, there has been the reputation of "Lady City", and after the Chongzhen Emperor heard the news, he also gave a plaque "Yan Gui Chuanfang" to commend the merits of the female generals of the Zhang family. Twice trapped under the fortified city, which eventually led to the defeat and death of Wang Jiayin's soldiers.
After Wang Jiayin's death, Zijin Liang, Lao Hui, Eight King Kong, and others led an army of 30,000 to besiege Dou Zhuang again on August 15, and were bound to attack this small village, but they were defeated again. The "History of Ming" records that all the prefectures and counties in Zelu were attacked by the rebels, but Dou Zhuang always insisted.
Later, after the Qing Dynasty entered the Central Plains, Zhang Daoli, like his father Zhang Quan, died on the battlefield against the Qing army. If the cities and pools of the Ming Dynasty were as strong as Dou Zhuang, perhaps the Ming Dynasty would not have perished.
