During the Sui and Tang dynasties, there was a mother and son in the water street of the ancient town of Pingyuan County. The mother was seriously ill, and the son served soup and medicine day and night, becoming a well-known filial piety. In order to make her mother heal, Xiaozi hiked the Green Tile Temple at the foot of Mount Taishan every year, burned incense and worshiped the Buddha, and prayed to the Buddha to bless her mother with a speedy recovery. This move alarmed the government, and in order to show filial piety, the official government ordered people to build a temple in the northeast corner of the ancient town to imitate the Green Tile Temple at the foot of Mount Tai.
Legend has it that on the day when the main hall of the Green Tile Temple in Shuiwu Street was ready to be beamed, Master Lu Ban disguised himself as a white-bearded old man, carrying an axe to chisel saw ink (ink bucket) and other woodworking tools, and went to help the worker.
Master Lu Ban came to the construction site and saw a foreman-like man and an overseer in official uniform pointing at a table in the distance, muttering in his mouth, not knowing what he was saying.
Master Lu Ban, carrying a tool jacket, slowly stepped forward and sang to the two of them, looking forward to see a design drawing. Just as he was about to open his mouth, he was glanced at by the foreman. The foreman was about to say something, but in a hurry, a handlebar-like man with a horse whip hurriedly walked up and said in a loud voice, "Master Wang, The Glazed Valla is back, give it a look!" "Say it, and hand over the list." The foreman did not have time to speak, and went with the handlebar style to collect the glazed tiles.
After a while, the foreman strode back and reported to the overseer: "My Lord! According to the listed list, the glazed tiles are ready for a page! The overseer nodded and said yes.
Master Lu Ban went to receive the gap of the glazed tile at the foreman, carefully examined the design drawings, and felt that the design was reasonable and there was nothing wrong with it. At this time, hearing the number of glazed tiles reported by the foreman, he casually said: "A little more!" The foreman scolded impatiently, "What do you know?" He turned around and asked, "What are you doing?" Master Lu Ban replied, "I am a carpenter, I want to help with some carpentry work, I don't want to pay, I don't know if it is feasible?" ”
Only then did the foreman carefully examine Master Lu Ban, and seeing that his body was tough and his spirit was strong, but his hair was white and he had experienced vicissitudes, thinking that he was too old, afraid that his waist and feet were not healthy, and he could not do heavy work, he pointed to a few wooden piers at his feet and said: "Drive you to saw these wooden piers into the mortise for the main hall!" When the work was finished in the evening, he picked up the tools he had brought and quietly left the construction site.
After the completion of the construction of the Green Tile Temple and the day of handing over the work, the foreman found that the white-bearded old man had already left, and the pile of mortise pins that Master Lu Ban saw had all been used up, and the number of mortise pins was exactly the same as the number of mortise pins used in the main hall.
When the foreman checked the materials needed for the hall, he made a new discovery: the number of glazed tiles listed in the hall was even one page more glazed tile than the actual glazed tiles used.
