On June 14 and 15, the official website of the Chinese Embassy in Qatar was updated to show that Ambassador Li Chen had resigned from visiting a number of Qatari dignitaries on June 13 and 14.

On the 13th, Ambassador Li Chen resigned to pay a meeting with Khamadi, secretary general of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Major General Hu Laifei, director of the General Public Security Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior, and Sulaiti, minister of communications and communications; on the 14th, Ambassador Li Chen resigned to pay a call to Al Mahamud, chairman of the Qatar Consultative Conference.

According to the official resume, Li Chen served as a section member of the Department of West Asia and North Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a staff member and attaché of the Embassy in Syria, an attaché and a third secretary of the Embassy in Jordan, a third secretary, a second secretary and a deputy director of the Department of West Asia and North Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a second secretary and a first secretary of the Office in Palestine, a first secretary and director of the West Asia and North Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a counselor at the Embassy in Jordan, and a minister counsellor at the Embassy in Egypt.

In 2008, Li Chen returned to the Department of West Asia and North Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and successively served as counselor and deputy director of the department. In 2012, Li Chen was appointed ambassador to Bahrain. In 2015, Li Chen became the new ambassador to Qatar.
