3 years ago, the official website of the British authoritative travel guide magazine "Time Out" published an article selecting the "50 coolest city blocks in the world", and the list of palladium streets in Chengdu was listed! It was shortlisted along with the world-famous Manhattan in New York, Pekkham in London, and the Multicultural Street in the capital of Madrid.
At that time, there were 4 blocks in China on the list, the former French Concession in Shanghai, wan chai in Hong Kong, and Sanlitun in Beijing, and Palladium Street was the highest! Ranked 19th!
Palladium Street is a century-old street in Chengdu, starting from Chongdri in the west and ending at Tianxianqiao South Road in the east. The interesting graffiti on both sides of the street is a demonstration of the lifestyle of this street.
Strolling through this street, the stories of a series of historic buildings nearby will give you a better understanding of the past and present lives of the "Millennium Jinguan City".
Even the public toilets on this street have a sense of age, which is a scene of Palladium Street.
A huge mural on the street, full of details, those years of old Chengdu bustling, bustling, extremely strong atmosphere of life, reproducing the old "East Gate Scenic Scene".
Chongdri is a very representative coordinate on this street.
Originally an unnamed alley, Chongdri was built in 1925 and renamed Chongde after being remodeled by businessman Wang Chongde. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Chengdu office of Jiale Paper Mill, which was opened by the famous writer Li Jieren, was located here, and the office and liaison office of the "Chengdu Branch of the All-China Literary and Art Circles Anti-Enemy Association", one of the most important organizations in Chengdu's cultural circles, was also located here.
The existing No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 are the remains of Chongdri's buildings in that year, which are in the modern Western Sichuan residential architectural style.
Nowadays, strolling on the palladium street, red brick bluestone, cast iron railings, green trees cover, showing the thick historical traces of this street, and this pure old city style accumulated over the years has attracted many literary and artistic youth.
With the creation of characteristic blocks, more and more coffee shops, dessert shops and bookstores and a series of cultural and creative shops have settled in, and art, history, humanities and life are harmoniously blended in this short alley.
