In fact, "Grandma's Penghu Bay" was originally a song he sang popularly, but for mainland audiences, most people heard it from Zhang Mingmin. And many of the songs that Zhang Mingmin sang at that time were from Pan Anbang, including "Walking on the Country Road" and "Daddy's Straw Shoes".
Pan Anbang was once very popular in the mainland, but then gradually left the show business circle, and even if he returned to the stage after many years, he almost did not perform in the mainland. It is particularly unfortunate that Pan Anbang died of illness in 2013 at the age of 52.

Born in 1961, Pan Anbang debuted very early, and in 1979, when he was only 18 years old, he released the album of the same name, singing the song "Grandma's Penghu Bay".
"Grandma's Penghu Bay" we are too familiar with, it is estimated that whether it is the elderly or children, they can hum a few words casually. But perhaps many people do not know that the creation of this song actually comes from Pan Anbang's personal experience.
In order to write songs for the young Pan Anbang, the musician Ye Jiaxiu chatted with Pan Anbang for an afternoon, listened to him talk about the story of growing up with his grandmother, and suddenly came inspiration, writing "The evening wind gently blows Penghu Bay, the white waves chase the beach, there is no coconut grove drunken sun, just a sea blue", and then composed music for it, which has the "Grandma's Penghu Bay" that we later heard.
However, we did not have the opportunity to hear Pan Anbang sing this song at that time, and most of the first time we heard it was through the Spring Festival Gala in 1984. Zhang Mingmin also sang several songs that night, including the famous "My Chinese Heart", in addition to "Grandma's Penghu Bay" and "Walking on the Country Road". You know, the next two songs are actually Pan Anbang's songs, but at that time we didn't have the opportunity to know him, so we thought that these were Zhang Mingmin's works.

I don't know if it was because he "robbed" Pan Anbang's songs in advance, which offended him, so by the spring evening of 1989, Pan Anbang was not only grandly introduced by the host, but also interacted with the audience in dialogue between singing, and more importantly, he could sing three songs so "willfully", which could almost be regarded as a kind of compensation.
Pan Anbang first wore a white robe on the stage and sang "Follow the Feeling". The song had just become popular at that time, the original song was Su Rui, Pan Anbang sang his own taste, and this song soon became popular in the mainland, and the name of the song also became a popular word.
After "Follow the Feeling" was sung, the host Kan Lijun introduced that in fact, the song "Grandma's Penghu Bay" was sung by Pan Anbang, and then he sang it again ten years after the launch of this song. Then interact with the audience and sing "Sun and Moon" written by the party creation team for him.

As a result, Pan Anbang became famous overnight in the mainland, launched a new album, and held concerts.
However, after entering the 1990s, Pan Anbang gradually withdrew from the music circle and began to do business until he returned to the music scene in 2000. He was then treated with an illness and died in February 2013 at the age of 52 due to another illness.
For the mainland audience at that time, because they had not heard his new songs for a long time, many people could not remember him very much. But I believe that many people remember him, remember him wearing a black top hat, singing "Grandma's Penghu Bay" affectionately on the stage.
