According to foreign media reports on January 15, on the 14th local time, the French auction house artcurial said that an original painting by Hergé, the creator of "The Adventures of Tintin", was auctioned at an online auction for 3.2 million euros, breaking the previous record for the auction of comic art. In 2014, a cartoon by Hergé was allegedly sold for 2.65 million euros.

The painting was provided by the heir of Luis Castman, publisher of The Adventures of Tintin. Hergé allegedly gave the painting to Castelman's son, who folded it up and placed it in a drawer.

According to reports, the original painting is 34 centimeters long and 34 centimeters wide. In the painting, Tintin and his dog, Bai Xue, protrude their heads from a porcelain vase, in front of a dragon. It is said that the painting was originally planned to be used as a cover for the Blue Lotus comic strip of The Adventures of Tintin. But because the publisher thought it would be expensive to present the scene, the final printed cover was a simplified version of the same scene.

Ed Auctions said the buyer of the painting was a "private collector" but did not reveal his identity.
