On March 21, 1953, Celtics guard Bob Cush played 66 minutes in the second game of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, scoring 50 points to help the team win 111-105 against the Syracuse Nationals through four extra time.
After the game, the Celtics defeated the Syracuse Nationals 2-0 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, but lost to the Knicks 1-3 on aggregate and missed the Finals.
