On October 19, the "People's Aid" project jointly initiated by the People's Daily Health Client and The Water Drop Company was launched in Hunan Provincial Children's Hospital. At the launching ceremony, Hengheng and another child with liver transplantation received 20,000 yuan of love assistance from the People's Aid Project Public Welfare Fund. This is the second stop of the "People's Aid" project in the country after the People's Hospital of Wuhan University.

The People's Aid project was launched in April 2021. The project gives full play to the leading role of public opinion in the health client of the People's Daily and the mobilization and organization ability of social institutions, combined with the advantages of the Internet technology platform and public welfare platform of Waterdrop Company, to provide rescue services for patients with serious diseases in economic difficulties, and to help the hospital implement the action plan for improving medical services. The project was carried out in key tertiary hospitals nationwide, building a multi-party collaboration model of "social fundraising + public welfare assistance + social work service", and helping poor patients with medical assistance through donation of public welfare relief funds, standardizing social fundraising in hospitals, and dispatching social workers to supplement patient services.

In the past five years, 372 million caring people have helped 2.1 million patients with serious illnesses raise more than 42.8 billion yuan in medical funds through Waterdrop. In the past two years, more than 1,500 patients who have visited Hunan Children's Hospital have raised more than 50 million yuan in medical aid funds through water drops.

On the one hand, The project will be dispatched to the "People's Aid" service commissioner to assist social workers to provide fundraising services for patients, and open up an exclusive green channel for the hospital to improve the efficiency of fund raising; on the other hand, the Waterdrop Public Welfare Platform and the China Social Assistance Foundation will set up a special fund to provide public welfare assistance for patients with serious diseases who still lack treatment costs and meet the conditions.

Zhao Anping, deputy editor-in-chief of the People's Daily Health Client and Health Times, said in his speech that the "People's Aid Service Station" was successfully established in Hunan Provincial Children's Hospital, hoping to use the strength of all walks of life to bring real help to sick children with family economic difficulties, truly reflect the significance of "people's aid", so that the next generation of the motherland can grow up healthily.

In order to bring a warmer medical experience to hospitalized children, the hospital has also established a volunteer service base with the School of Architecture of Hunan University.

Zhao Weihua, secretary of the Party Committee of Hunan Children's Hospital, said that Hunan Children's Hospital has always been committed to public welfare and charity on the basis of effectively shouldering the mission of children's physical health in the province.
