Tanzanite Hunting - Wildlife of the Central Plains of Serengeti [Part 1] (Group 61P)

June 10 D7 Serengeti West - Serengeti Central Plain. The landform of the central plain is very different from that of the west, and it is not an exaggeration to summarize this grassland with its vastness. It takes two hours to drive from the western part of the Serengeti to the Central Plains, and from time to time you will see large herds of herbivores clustering from the Central Plains to the west. In addition to elephants, giraffes, hippos and other large herbivores that do not migrate, the central plains of this period can only see a few herds of antelope sporadically, and for the many large carnivores here, the hard days have just begun.

Serengeti National Park is home to numerous wildebeest (wildebeest), banma, antelope, spotted hyenas, giraffes, lions, elephants, black rhinos, buffaloes and leopards and other world-famous African five beasts, as well as more than 300 species of birds, constituting the world's largest natural ecosystem of animals. Between May and June of each year, Serengeti herbivores migrate from the Central Plain to the west to watery areas all year round. By July and August, some of them migrated from the Serengeti to the Mara steppe, and the vast army of animals formed a magnificent landscape that shocked the world.

On two days on the Central Plains, we saw the lionesses of both lions entering the release period at the same time and both mating several times on the exposed rocks. This is a rare opportunity that even local drivers say they have never encountered. Tomorrow, I will post photos and videos of two lion swarms in estrus in the form of an album, and the photos are very exciting.

The Serengeti, which means "boundless plain" in Maasai, is located in the southern part of the Great Rift Valley of East Africa and covers an area of fifteen thousand square kilometers. Since 1956, it has been integrated with the Ngorongoro Biological Reserve, which is internationally recognized as a world cultural and natural heritage site and a biological reserve in UNESCO's Human and Ecological Programme. Serengeti National Park is home to more than 3 million large mammals, more than all other African countries combined.

The day's pleasant day of shooting was over, and it would take another two hours to drive back to the hotel in the west. As we walked and photographed, the sun had gradually set in the west, and the roadside spotted hyena family was still watching us return to the hotel as usual. Tomorrow we're going to the tent hotel in central plains for the night, goodbye to the west! Goodbye Spotted Hyena Family!
