The National Veterinary Service Laboratory said that the Denver Zoo first found 11 lions and 2 tigers infected with the new crown virus. The latest animal samples tested positive for nucleic acid tests in 2 hyenas aged 22 and 23 years. They present with mild symptoms, including mild drowsiness, runny nose, and occasional coughing.
According to the park, hyenas are tough and adaptable animals, and they are highly tolerant of bacillus anthracis, rabies and irritability. They have always been healthy and are expected to recover naturally. The park promised to continue to strengthen the epidemic prevention work for 450 different species and 3,000 animals in the park.
The USDA said confirmed cases of the coronavirus have been reported in multiple species, most of which occur in animals that have had close contact with people infected with the virus.
