The earliest batch of national players was only 8, 5 men's team, 3 women's team: Sun Meiying, Ye Peiqiong, Qiu Zhonghui, Sun Meiying is the first female ball king of national table tennis, she laid the foundation for the future glory of the Chinese women's team.
At that time, there were few table tennis events, the most important being the World Table Tennis Championships and the National Championships, the first National Championships were held in 1952, the first National Games were held in 1959, and in the era when there was no National Games, the importance of the National Championships was second only to the World Table Tennis Championships.
Sun Meiying won the women's singles championship in the first and second national championships in 1956, won the women's team and mixed doubles championships in the fourth national championship in 1958 (with Wang Chuanyao), and cooperated with Wang Jian in the sixth national championship in 1960 to win the women's doubles championship, and won all the project championships that the national championships could participate in, which was the eldest sister of the women's team at that time.
Coincidentally, Jiang Yongning, the first national championship men's singles champion, and Sun Meiying were both golden children and jade girls, and the two married in 1955, and the couple worked together to fight for the cause of Chinese table tennis.
Unfortunately, in that cruel "movement", Jiang Yongning committed suicide due to humiliation, and Sun Meiying lost her teeth and swallowed blood, stubbornly living.
Sun Meiying, as the core main force of the national table tennis women's team, has participated in 6 World Table Tennis Championships. In March 1953, the Chinese table tennis team, which had been formed for less than half a year, participated in the 20th World Table Tennis Championships.
The Chinese table tennis team made its debut on the international stage, and the Chinese women's team finally ranked 3rd in the second division team. Sun Meiying won the bronze medal in women's doubles (with Qiu Zhonghui) and the bronze medal in mixed doubles (with Wang Chuanyao) at the 25th World Table Tennis Championships, the runner-up of the women's team in the 26th World Table Tennis Championships, and the bronze medal in women's singles at the 27th World Table Tennis Championships.
After the 27th World Table Tennis Championships in 1963, Sun Meiying retired as the coach of the national table tennis women's team and trained more than a dozen world champions, the most famous being Zhang Li and Cao Yanhua. In 1979, he became the vice chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association.
Sun Meiying has retreated to the second line, but she still cares about the women's team, especially for the growth of Shanghai's young compatriot He Zhili.
At the 39th World Table Tennis Championships in 1987, the leaders prepared to let He Zhili concede the ball to Guan Jianhua in the semifinals. Sun Meiying taught He Zhili to pretend to agree before the game, not to let him on the field, to fight with real ability, and stared at He Zhili's eyes and said firmly: "All the troubles I will bear, all the consequences I will carry!" He Zhili had the strong support of Sun Meiying, defeating Guan Jianhua in the semi-finals and Liang Yingzi in South Korea in the final, and finally winning the championship.
He Zhili openly defied the leadership's intentions and resolutely refused to let the ball, making He Zhili unable to gain a foothold in the team, and later naturalized to Japan, causing an uproar.
Sun Mei's heroic disclosure of the inside story of the national table tennis handicap made her intolerable to the Chinese table tennis scene, and she became a lonely person, in addition to writing the book "Research on Modern Table Tennis Technology", she was forced to sever her relationship with the table tennis industry.
In her later years, Sun Meiying was treated differently by people, depressed and unable to get rid of, and was infected with the vices of smoking and playing mahjong, and the addiction to smoking and branding was large, which seriously damaged her health.
On March 22, 1993, Sun Meiying died suddenly due to cerebrovascular disease at the age of 64.
