According to comprehensive media reports, the US House of Representatives Special Committee investigating the Riot in the Capitol on January 6 unanimously voted in favor of arresting Steve Bannon, a senior strategic adviser to then US President Trump, on the 19th of January 6, for refusing to testify in court because of his defiance of the summons.

Bannon was ordered to attend a committee hearing last week, but his lawyers said bannon refused to testify or provide relevant evidentiary documents as directed by then-U.S. President Donald Trump's legal team.

On the evening of the 18th local time, the Special Committee of the House of Representatives recommended that he be arrested for criminal contempt of court, and on the 19th, all members voted in favor of the decision to prosecute Bannon.

According to U.S. media reports, the committee investigating the riots in the Capitol said the former White House adviser "has multiple roles related to this investigation."

Investigators said that included spreading lies about fraudulent elections that sparked the attack. The day before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, Bannon also made predictions to his show's audience.

On January 5, the day before the incident, Bannon told the audience: "Now we are at the point of attack – tomorrow's attack point". The special committee's investigation found that he pushed a plan by Trump and far-right Republican lawmakers to try to overturn Biden's victory the next day, when Congress will meet to formalize the election results.

The Congressional Riots Inquiry Committee issued a subpoena demanding written documents from stephen Bannon and four other senior Trump-era officials to testify in court. Bannon declined to cooperate with the investigation, citing the former president's claims of executive privilege.

Bannon served as White House chief strategist and adviser to the President of the United States for the first seven months of former U.S. President Donald Trump's first term. He co-founded Cambridge Analytica and serves as Vice Chairman of the Board.

In addition to serving as a presidential adviser, Bannon's other personal careers are also marked by bad deeds.

In early 2018, his data analytics company had a scandal that improperly acquired data on 50 million Facebook users, and then declared bankruptcy.

On August 20, 2020, Bannon was arrested on suspicion of misappropriation of funds in a private fundraising project. On January 19, 2021, Trump pardoned Bannon before leaving office.
