Zhang Yongjian, former vice principal of Rizhao Normal School, was just like the "you" in the lyrics. This old gentleman, who has passed the age of flower armor, studied and taught here, three-foot podium, four seasons of cultivation, he dedicated his life's energy and efforts to the cause of Rizhao education.
In the early autumn, the campus is full of trees, and the old pine tree on the east side of the gate was planted by Elder Zhang and his students, and the branches are lush and sunny. Zhang Lao's life has been full of ups and downs, and he has witnessed the leapfrog development of Rizhao Normal School from "from having to excellent", and also witnessed the earth-shaking changes in Rizhao's education cause in the past 30 years.
The 65-year-old Zhang Yongjian is in good spirits, and whenever he talks about school, his eyes always flash with hope and light. "We are on a ridge head, it is easy to get electricity and water, and every day there are teachers who draw water from the old well under the ridge, put it into a big leather bag and then transport it up." The "ridge" in Zhang Lao's mouth is the "normal ridge" in the memory of many old rizhao people. It was the highland of Rizhao's education community and a cultural landmark of that era.
Founded in 1956, Rizhao Normal School experienced the torrent of reform and opening up, and trained the first generation of rizhao teachers in the 1980s. In that era of education, like the "teacher's mother machine", day and night worked hard, greatly enriching the teaching staff of township schools. For this reason, the foundation for education in the next 30 years was laid.
"When I came in in 1978, it was a desert, with no courtyard walls, no playgrounds, and not even a decent road." Zhang Yongjian said that in the second year of resuming the college entrance examination, he was admitted to rizhao normal school. When he saw the three words "Zhang Yongjian" from the big red list, his eyes were moist. He knew that the pale days were coming to an end. "I've hoeed the ground, fed pigs, taught students, and when I return to campus, I have a joy of recovery."
After graduation, he threw himself into the front line of teaching without hesitation, picking up the beams of succession. He then moved to the school's logistics department and management positions.
In 1989, Rizhao was upgraded from a county-level city to a prefecture-level city, and Rizhao Normal School also had a decent teaching building, dormitory building, playground, and the team of teachers and students also expanded to more than a thousand people. Zhang Lao recalled that by the early 1990s, the school set up a computer room, a physical and chemical laboratory, and a library, becoming the first school in the city to open a course in information technology.
"Can't forget, that year the leader came to inspect, allocated us a big head car, a tractor, a refrigerator, that is a big event that makes the whole school teachers and students rejoice, can't forget..." Recalling 1985, the country's first Teachers' Day, Zhang Lao was still excited. For them, it was not only a material reward, but also an affirmation of the entire society for intellectuals and teachers.

The wheel of history turned to 2019, Rizhao Normal has experienced 63 years of wind and rain baptism, has won more than 80 honors at or above the municipal level, and cultivated more than 10,000 qualified talents for the country and society.
And the old gentlemen like Zhang Lao are gradually getting old, and they have used their lives to practice the eight big characters of "learning to be a teacher, being a model", sowing the best years in the flower fields of education, and being diligent and persistent all their lives.
