From designer to deputy chief engineer
From a designer to a deputy chief engineer, Yu Lu spent 14 years, which is behind the hard work.
In 2005, Yu Lu, who had just entered the society, came into contact with her first project in her life, the Shenzhen Water Strategy. This strategy has become the theoretical guide for various water control practices in Shenzhen since then. "The first project in my life can stand at such a height, face the direction of the future, and consider where Shenzhen should go and where to go, which makes me feel very lucky." Yu Lu said.
In 2007, Yu Lu presided over the delineation of Shenzhen's first edition of the "Blue Line", that is, the geographical boundary between the protection and control of surface water bodies such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals and wetlands in the city. Yu Lu said that the delineation of the urban "blue line" can provide a spatial grip for the protection, control and improvement of water bodies, and play a very important role in the construction process of Shenzhen's urban planning projects.
In 2010, Shenzhen was listed as the country's first low-carbon ecological demonstration city. After that, Yu Lu participated in the Pingdi International Low Carbon City Planning Project. "The low-carbon city integrates many advanced concepts and technologies, leading the national upsurge in low-carbon ecological urban planning and construction methods." Yu Lu said.
In 2015, the state promoted the construction of sponge cities and encouraged eligible cities and regions to apply for sponge city pilots. In this process, Yu Lu is both a witness and a participant. She and her team do a lot of work. Yu Lu recalled that it was the Spring Festival, in order to be able to successfully declare, she took 2 chairs to fight and lie down for a while, and slept for 3 hours for three days and three nights.

She said that when she saw the sponge urban planning projects she participated in take root, especially when the ideas in her mind became reality; when faced with new technical problems, leading the team to discuss, research and finally solve, the pride that others could not appreciate. "Through some of my innovative research and development, I think it is very meaningful to impact an industry and affect the future of a city. It is the influence from all sides that allows me to give full play to my ideals and enthusiasm in this industry. Yu Lu said.
When asked how young people in the new era keep in mind the mission and move forward? Yu Lu said that first of all, we must learn to concentrate, not to be disturbed by too many things, and to concentrate on what we want to do now. Secondly, we must learn to think, and we must judge whether this matter is reliable through our own thinking.
