Beijing, 3 Jun (Xinhua) -- Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, attended the special session of the United Nations General Assembly on "Preventing and Combating Challenges and Measures to Prevent and Combat Corruption and Strengthen International Cooperation" in Beijing on 2 June, and delivered a speech entitled "Upholding the Concept of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind and Jointly Building a Clean and Honest Earth Home."

In his speech, Zhao Leji said that China highly appreciates the efforts and contributions made by the United Nations in preventing and punishing corruption, firmly supports the United Nations Convention against Corruption in playing the role of the main channel in global anti-corruption governance, welcomes the adoption of the Political Declaration at the special session, and is willing to work with all parties to promote the international anti-corruption cause on a new journey.
Zhao Leji pointed out that the CPC and the Chinese government have taken a clear stand against corruption, constantly improved the socialist supervision system with Chinese characteristics, and deeply explored an effective path to achieve self-purification under the conditions of the party's long-term ruling power, which have won the heartfelt support and broad support of the Chinese people, providing a strong guarantee for the country's long-term peace and stability and sustainable development. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to anti-corruption work, and the CPC Central Committee has implemented centralized and unified leadership over anti-corruption work, which has become the most powerful political guidance and guarantee for cracking down on corruption. Persist in the multi-pronged approach of "fighting tigers," "shooting flies," and "hunting foxes," and promote an overwhelming victory in the anti-corruption struggle and comprehensively consolidate it. Adhere to the people-centered approach, resolutely rectify corruption and unhealthy trends around the masses, and ensure that major strategic achievements in epidemic prevention and control are achieved with strong supervision and inspection, and ensure that poverty alleviation is comprehensively won. Persist in promoting as a whole that we do not dare to be corrupt, cannot be corrupt, and do not want to be corrupt, establish a centralized, unified, comprehensive coverage, authoritative and efficient supervision system, and combine punishment according to law, institutional constraints, and education and guidance, and improve the effectiveness of corruption control.
Zhao Leji stressed that China is an active participant and contributor to global anti-corruption governance. At present, the century-old changes and the century epidemic are intertwined and superimposed, and the interests of all countries are more united, and it is all the more necessary to uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and work together to combat corruption. To this end, China puts forward four proposals on international cooperation against corruption: First, adhere to fairness and justice, punish evil and promote good, uphold a zero-tolerance attitude towards corruption, build a zero-loophole system, carry out zero-obstacle cooperation, and oppose providing a safe haven for corrupt elements and corrupt assets under any pretext. Second, we should persist in respecting differences, equality and mutual learning, respect for the sovereignty, political system and legal system of all countries, respect the right of each country to independently choose the path of anti-corruption, and oppose the abuse of "long-arm jurisdiction" on the grounds of anti-corruption and even interference in the internal affairs of other countries. Third, adhere to win-win cooperation, consultation and co-construction, safeguard multilateralism, and improve the global anti-corruption governance rule system on the basis of consensus. Fourth, adhere to the principle of keeping promises and giving priority to action, fully fulfill international obligations, widely conclude treaties on extradition and criminal justice assistance, and remove all kinds of obstacles to the pursuit of fugitives and stolen goods, so that corrupt elements have nothing to hide.
This was the first time that the United Nations General Assembly held a special session on anti-corruption, which was attended by the President of the General Assembly and senior representatives of various countries.
