Often a young director's first work must be about the environment in which he grew up or about his own experience. I was born in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, is a mining area, since I heard a lot of mining anecdotes, I wonder if I can find a clue or a real case as an adaptation.
But I found that these cases are very monotonous and simple, and I always feel that there is not enough film texture and cinematization, and I see that the logic behind many cases is "why is there such a thing happening", as if everyone is doing the right thing.
So I wondered if I could build a relationship myself, let the audience see the problem, and then talk to the producer in mind at the time, and say whether it was possible for us to find money to shoot.
He found it difficult, and I also felt that I had no experience in this area, and it might be far away from taking this without letting go, so I did "Labyrinth of Hearts" with the events in the countryside he talked about earlier, and at that time, some people were willing to give some start-up funds to do projects, so they put this script first and did "Labyrinth of Hearts".
Questions about actors
After the script is finalized, we look at what the characters want, for example, Zhang Baomin's age is the first element, and we can't find an actor of a large age to look for young.
Another point, I hope that this actor can play by himself, and he needs to be willing to be integrated into such a textured film.

At the First Film Festival, we launched a project called "Hechi Lab".
This is after coming out of the film festival system, which is an exploratory project that we initiated. In this plan, "Burst into Silence" represents a reference for a quality that we want to provide, a standard.
We want to provide a new standard of recognition and understanding of the ecology of youth cinema or about film (film does not matter whether it is an independent film or an art film), and we want to complete specific works on top of this standard, and then bring the work to the audience. Through the work, we want to bring about some changes, the possibility of changing some of the values or qualities of some films.
This was the earliest idea when we worked with director Xin Yukun. With that in mind, I finished the film, which is where we meet today.
