"Mosuo Style Male and Female Bath"
Fei Zheng 240*120cm, 2008
There is a hot spring in Waru, a Mosuo settlement in YongningBazi, northwest of Lugu Lake at the junction of the Yunnan River in China, which is a sulfur spring for washing away dirt and diseases. In the past, people went to the hot springs to bathe, often men and women were common, and they were not defensive against each other, called "Mandarin Duck Pond". Especially in the agricultural leisure season, the Mosuo people from various settlements come here on horseback or on foot, they bring tents and wine and vegetables to live by the hot springs, picnic camping, naked bathing to treat diseases, singing and dancing in the arms of green mountains and waters, exchanging food, passing wine bowls, and talking and greetings. After drinking and eating, I soaked in the hot spring and bathed. Here men and women bathe together, unrestrained, regardless of each other, simple and flawless between people, here is like a gentle pool. The hot springs cover the vast Yongning Dam, the majestic Gemu Sacred Mountain, and the magical Mosuo people with a layer of charming colors.

The Mosuo people have been playing countless stories around the holy hot spring of the heavenly pool for generations, and all the sour, sweet, bitter and bitter and joyful and sorrowful have churned and evaporated in that pool of hot water, leaving countless legends, so that today's people still come to the pilgrimage and linger.
Mosuo Mountain Festival, the famous Chinese painter Mosuo cultural collection group came to Lugu Lake to collect wind, the famous painter Fei Zheng is particularly interested in the ethnic customs of Mosuo people bathing with men and women, many times to the hot spring village to collect wind sketches, Fei Zheng was already a 70-year-old old artist at that time. In his early years, he graduated from the studio of Professor Dong Xiwen of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and later became a graduate student in the studio, and became famous throughout the country for collaborating with Yuan Yunsheng at Beijing Capital Airport to create "Hymn of Life - Happy Songkran Festival". Later, he went to work in the Studio of Lu Xiaguang in Paris, France, and held a solo exhibition at the Paris International Art City, and began to look for oil painting language methods belonging to Chinese culture in both Chinese and Western cultures, and achieved achievements for all to see, and also formed its unique artistic style. After returning to China, he successively served as the chairman of the Hebei Artists Association, the president of the Oil Painting Research Association, the member of the China Artists Association, and a national first-class artist, and created a large number of fine works in different periods, becoming a famous third-generation oil painter in China.
Over the years, Fei Zheng has been looking for a channel between Chinese and Western art, exploring the combination of Western modern art and China's national art, and building a bridge of artistic communication between China and the West.
After the end of the Lugu Lake collection, Fei Zheng returned to Beijing and spent 3 months carefully creating a huge oil painting "Mosuo Style Male and Female Bath". The author uses the painting art style of the French Impressionist painter Paul Gauguin, using a strong and distinct large color block, using a single line of flat painting, forming a flat art style with original meaning. The work places a deep reflection on human nature and art, gives the work a symbolic meaning, it gets rid of the tradition of imitating nature, and expresses the subjective wishes and pursuits of the individual in painting, it can be seen that the painter paints the East and the West casually. We can enjoy from this picture: in the emerald green mountains, a hot spring like a celestial bath, naked men and in the diffuse drapery hazy charming, crispy rice wine, butter tea overflowing, dancing, singing, horseshoe sounds, and Asha humor, the whole mountain is drunk. The work is a classic that uses painting art to show the unique style of the Mosuo people, which is artistic and national. Once the works were exhibited in Kunming, they aroused strong repercussions.
