Shouxing fish is also known as fire crane and auspicious fish. Cichlidae. It is produced in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, South America. The body is spindle-shaped and 20–30 cm long. The largest body is about 38 cm long, with a large physique and a large head, and its high forehead is like an old life star, and its personality is rough, and it can only be mixed with large fierce fish. Because of its pleasing appearance and looks particularly auspicious, the shouxing fish is loved by fish lovers, and the reason why it is called a birthday star is because the head of the fish is slightly arched.

The head is large, and there is a prominent sarcoma at the tip of the dorsal fin, which resembles the Shou Xing Gong in Chinese mythology, so its name is derived from the appearance, and people call her Shou Xing Fish. In Southeast Asia, some people raise a tank of fire crane (Shou), Sanjian Tiger (Lu), and Dragon Fish (Fu) as "Fu Lu Shou".
How to raise shouxing fish? The feeding water temperature is 22-26 ° C, and the water quality is neutral soft water. Feeding Bait includes water earthworms, small trash fish, small shrimp, bread worms, meat pieces, etc., and there are no high requirements for food. The life star fish itself is more rough temperament, their sense of territory is stronger, sometimes you can see two fish biting each other, so that both sides lose, so it is best not to breed with small fish.
Do not polyculture with small fish. The propagation water temperature is 27-28 ° C, and the water quality is slightly acidic soft water. During breeding, males have head sarcomas that are bright red, with long tips on the dorsal and fins ; females are slightly paler in color. The breeding tank is laid with gray marble slabs or rocks as a nest.
Females lay 1000-1500 eggs at a time. Prefers live food, oviparous, suitable for naked tanks, can be polycultured with homomorphic cichlid.
