Yin Xianbing

In early 1940, Yin Xianbing, an old Red Army officer who was the head of the special service regiment at the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, was transferred to Hebei as the deputy commander of the Jixi Guerrilla Corps, and the commander was Yang Xiufeng, a native of Hebei. Yang Xiufeng was an intellectual, who had served as the director of Jixi, and he was rich in organizational leadership ability, but as far as the military commander was concerned, Yin Xianbing was a commander who had experienced hundreds of battles and was a commander who was not to be tolerated.

At the beginning of this year, Wang Shusheng, commander of the guerrilla column in Jiluyubian, and Huang Zhen, the political commissar, came to Hebei and announced their appointments. Yin Xianbing was ordered to come to Yuanshi County, Hebei Province, at the turn of February and March to annihilate the enemy's living forces. After operational research, Yin Xianbing decided to annihilate the puppet army in Maling, the outer stronghold of Nanzuo, and played a role in knocking out the mountains and shocking the tiger.

However, the battle did not go well, and the troops withdrew. At the conclusion of the battle, the enemy's shells flew towards the Eighth Route Army, and the enemy came uninvited, and a battle was inevitable.

Yin Xianbing and Yang Kebing (female), deputy director of the political department of the detachment, exchanged views and decided to send a small reconnaissance unit to spy on the truth. Soon, they learned that the enemy had more than 300 people, and they had set out from the Nanzuo stronghold in the morning, grabbed grain in Yaozhuang, and marched west along the Heishui River, with the intention of sweeping toward the base area.

Wang Shusheng is a great general

The Terrain of the Blackwater River is precarious and suitable for ambushes. Moreover, the enemy did not know the movement of the Eighth Route Army, and it was just a battle to annihilate the enemy. This battle was agreed by Wang Shusheng and others. Based on a company of the Independent Battalion and along with other fighters, Yin Xianbing detoured back to the east of the Blackwater River Ditch to pretend to attack, and after the battle began, this force retreated while fighting, and the enemy was deceived to the west of the Blackwater River Ditch.

Yin Xianbing sent two companies in advance to occupy the mountain pass west of the Blackwater River, and waited for the enemy to enter the ambush circle and then block the enemy head-on. At the same time, a battalion brought by Wang Shusheng occupied the terrain of the mountain south of the ditch and attacked the enemy from behind. To prevent enemy reinforcements, another battalion was on guard east of Yaozhuang.

Half an hour later the battle began, and the enemy burrowed into the encirclement. During the battle, a platoon leader surnamed Yue took an enemy prisoner. After inquiry, it was learned that the opponent was the Japanese non-commissioned officer training team, a veteran who was about to be promoted to a second lieutenant, and a lieutenant officer who led the team. The number of enemies was small, and the Eighth Route Army attacked on many sides, and the enemy was quickly defeated, and the number of casualties continued to increase. They quickly gathered their troops and occupied the Xiangu Temple not far from the sides of the ditch to wait for reinforcements.

Yin Xianbing knew that this was the enemy bullying the Eighth Route Army without heavy weapons. At this time, if there are mortars, the enemy will never dare to occupy here. The Xiangu Temple is on a high ground, and there is an open field in front of the gate, where the enemy has set up two machine guns, and if the Eighth Route Army attacks strongly, it will pay a great price.

The people's army has always had the habit of holding Zhuge Liang meetings, and seeing that the enemy was in a hurry, Yin Xianbing held a meeting on combat operations. At the meeting, it was proposed to carry out fire attacks, and this idea was adopted.

The fire quickly burned with the help of the wind. The enemy could not bear it and naturally did not dare to stay in the Xiangu Temple, and fled out one after another.
