Ranger Gao Dengxiang grandson Gao Changxing: "My grandfather's name is Gao Dengxiang, he guarded the mountain for 45 years, to my father he guarded for 10 years, my name is Gao Changxing is the third generation, has been guarding for 15 years." ”
Gao Changxing's family lives in a small village in Donghua Community, Jietou Town, Tengchong City. In the early 1960s, the forest management office was established in the Yong'an area of the former Jietou Township, when Gao Changxing's grandfather Gao Dengxiang took the initiative to sign up as a forest ranger at the forest management office.
Gao Changxing, grandson of ranger Gao Dengxiang: "We remember that at that time, he was almost not very at home, and in terms of one day, his time at home was no more than two or three hours. ”
In Gao Changxing's impression, Grandpa spent more time in the mountains than at home, because Grandpa was busy planting trees. At that time, there was a large area of wasteland in the forest area, and the forest management institute required trees to be planted, and as the guardian of the mountain here, Gao Dengxiang climbed to the tall trees to collect seeds.
Gao Mingrong, son of ranger Gao Dengxiang: "These trees were planted in 1978 when these seeds were collected, and when these trees were planted, they were some small saplings, so small saplings. It used to be a barren mountain, but at that time there were no plantings (crops), no production, hoeing the roots of wild grass, and then digging pits to plant trees. At that time, planting trees was strictly a person can only dig a hundred pits a day, more is not OK, more afraid of not being able to ensure the quality, after digging the pit and then cover the grass outside before planting it, nearby cattle and horses and livestock can not come in, come in will trample the saplings, so it is taken care of. ”
Gao Dengxiang took care of these saplings like his own children. From the barren mountain to the current tree-lined Gao Dengxiang spent most of his life, until January 1997, the 75-year-old Gao Dengxiang resigned as a ranger due to his age and poor health.
When Gao Dengxiang was a ranger, there were no forest fires and major logging, poaching and poaching in this forest. A year before his death, some tourists came to Baohua Temple to play and hear his story, and took the initiative to go to his home to take the only standard photo of his life. But he left behind not only a photograph, but also a mountain full of green trees.
When his father resigned as a ranger, 50-year-old Gao Mingrong resolutely chose to continue to guard the mountain.
Gao Mingrong, son of ranger Gao Dengxiang: "Why do we follow the old man to guard the mountain?" We have made it clear that Gaoligong Mountain is the mother mountain of our generations and ancestors, we must protect nature, the next generation must also protect nature, do not let it be destroyed, how high the mountain is and how high the water is, how many people's lives it holds, how many animal lives it embraces, gaoligong mountain is where the water flows, it will supply wherever it flows. ”
For the Gao family who have lived in Gaoligong Mountain for generations, this is the mother mountain that raised them, and for the once barren mountain, the Gao family is nurturing this land. Nurturing each other is the most sincere relationship between man and nature. Of course, guarding the mountain is not an easy task, being bitten by mosquitoes is a common thing, and sometimes even drinking clean water is a luxury.
Ranger Gao Dengxiang's son Gao Mingrong: "There is a clear white sea in this mountain, the clear white sea is where the bison bathe, when it gets there it is dark, and then go to find water is not able to go, dig it up a little water to accumulate, just in this wild animal bathing pond to fetch water to drink, at that time there were some small red worms in the water, it looked dirty, but at that time there was no way to drink, anyway, to drink, drink do not feel how." ”
The itch after the bite on the long mountain road is a small thing in Gao Mingrong's eyes, and it is a big thing to keep these natural resources left by his father. At the end of December 2006, Gao Mingrong, due to his old age, took the initiative to apply for resignation as a ranger, and Gao Changxing, who had followed his father on the mountain tour since childhood, also joined the ranks of rangers at this time.

Staying behind to guard the mountain may not be the best option, but this mountain has stories from its fathers. In order to better stay and guard the mountain, Gao Changxing's family raised bees to plant tobacco leaves, and the days were not very rich and expensive, but they could get by, as long as the days could still last, the mountain would continue to be kept. Keeping the mountain is not to make money but to continue, to continue the mountain has green trees, streams, animals, and the spirit of the keepers.
