From "courier brother" to swimming Olympic gold medal coach

How powerful are dreams? In the view of Wang Aimin, the gold medal coach of the Swimming Olympic Games, it is the firm original intention and perseverance that support him through all kinds of difficulties and dangers to reach the other side of success.

Wang Aimin was born in 1971 to an ordinary family in HanCun, Anxin County, Xiong'an New District, Hebei Province. Turned as an amateur swimmer, he aspires to be a good swim coach. In his childhood, the image of the coach was very tall. "When I was a child, I practiced swimming at Anxin Sports School, and my practice time was very short and my results were not outstanding, but at that time, I felt that the coaching industry was very sacred, and I also wanted to be a coach." When he was not yet a coach, the coaches and leaders around him "persuaded" him. Wang Aimin told reporters that being a coach is his choice without regrets, and "pain and happiness": "My coach said that if you want to get rich, don't be a coach, and some leaders have reminded me that it is good for you to do some business, why do you have to be a coach?" But I have a coaching complex and want to do a good job. Along the way, it was both a testing process and a process of enjoyment. ”

Dreaming of coaching, willing to be a "courier brother"

After finishing his amateur training, Wang Aimin worked as a swimming coach in Anxin County for a while, but in order to pursue his dream, he decided to be admitted to the Coaching Department of Tianjin Sports Academy to continue his studies. In order to save for tuition, he left early and returned to Beijing every morning and evening to work, pedaling a flatbed tricycle to deliver goods. At that time, Wang Aimin got up at 5 o'clock every morning to study for the exam, studied for two hours, and after breakfast, he set off for the food freezing factory in the southwest suburbs of Beijing, which opened at 8 o'clock. After picking up the goods, he began to deliver goods to major hotels, and the farthest distance was sent from the southwest suburbs to the Asian Games Village in the North Fourth Ring Road. Wang Aimin remembers that experience vividly: "A truckload of goods is more than 1,000 pounds, and in the summer, the goods are often sweaty and very hard, and the weight dropped to more than one hundred and a hundred pounds at that time." Catch up the uphill road, pedal can not pedal up, just come down to pull the car, really tired to see Venus. Although it was hard work, at that time, I felt that I could stand up to everything when I was young, and I felt hopeful about being a coach in order to go to school. ”

The polishing and training of Wang Aimin during those years of struggle was not only physical, but also spiritual. "Pedaling a tricycle on the streets of Beijing, my self-esteem was still hit hard. In the crowd, you pedal a tricycle, and you can't go to the main entrance to the hotel, you can only take the back door. Although it is a big blow to self-esteem, I always remind myself: if you have ideas and goals, you have to work hard. This kind of experience is a great experience for the mind, and there will be setbacks in my current work life, but my psychology is relatively strong. It turns out that I have been pedaling a tricycle for several years, and I am afraid that I will return to the original point? ”

In 1992, Wang Aimin was admitted to the Tianjin Sports Institute as he wished, and after graduation, he returned to his hometown to continue working as a swimming coach. In 1998, Wang Aimin ushered in a turning point in his career. He was transferred from Hebei to Weihai, Shandong to teach. Here he showed his fists and feet, showing his ambitions one by one, and the coaching experience accumulated in his hometown helped him start steadily in Weihai and continue to grow through experience. In 2009, he was transferred to the Shandong provincial team and entered the national team at the end of the same year. Although Wang Aimin's coaching path looks smooth on his resume, he has also experienced the gap between dreams and reality. When he first joined the work, he was full of vigor and enthusiasm, but he also encountered many setbacks in the process of combining theory and practice, and he summed up his experience little by little, step by step, and forged ahead step by step, tempering himself. With the support of the team's "going out" policy, he absorbed the advanced training experience of foreign countries and used it for me in the process of training abroad, forming a practice suitable for Chinese swimming.

At the end of 2011, Wang Aimin took several members of the national team to Zibo for training, where he found a "thousand-mile horse" - Yang Junxuan, born in 2002. Yang Junxuan, who has outstanding physical conditions, is half a head taller than her peers, has a slender figure, a quiet and shy personality, and Wang Aimin can see her distinctive temperament at a glance. During the training, Yang Junxuan quickly showed her intelligence, clear mind, concentration, strong execution, strong self-control and other characteristics. "She was a teenager at the time, and her attention could always be fixed on the coach, and even a look and a move of the coach she could understand and know what training task you were going to let her complete." In training and life, Yang Junxuan's execution and self-control are very strong, and I think this is also an important factor in determining her success. ”

When Yang Junxuan's peers began to emerge, Wang Aimin did not rush to pull up seedlings to help grow, he patiently cultivated and carefully cared for this small flower that thrived. In recent years, Yang Junxuan has begun to show her strength in international and domestic competitions, and she has gold medals in the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, Jakarta Asian Games, and Hangzhou Short Pool World Championships. Especially since the 2019 Gwangju World Championships, Yang Junxuan's name has become more and more dazzling. At the Gwangju World Championships, she swam 1:55.43 in the main event 200m freestyle, ranking fifth in the event, but she wrote the world youth record in the event under her name. Since 2020, Yang Junxuan has gradually entered a better situation, constantly breaking his personal bests, and also breaking the national record and Asian record in the 200-meter freestyle.

Dream Tokyo was awarded the Gold Medal Coach

The real big test is the Tokyo Olympics.

On July 29, the Tokyo Olympics swimming women's 4×200m freestyle relay finals, Yang Junxuan, Tang Muhan, Zhang Yufei and Li Bingjie, composed of The Chinese team won the championship with a new world record of 7 minutes 40.33 seconds. Yang Junxuan, who is in charge of opening the stick, is the fastest player in the 200-meter single event among the four people, and the original intention of the coaching team is also to hope that she can rush out and create opportunities for her teammates. In the final, she lived up to expectations, leading the way in the 200m and handing over the baton with a personal best of 1:54.37. Subsequent tang muhan, Zhang Yufei and Li Bingjie also swam in their respective baseballs to surpass the corresponding segment of the Australian team when they set a world record of 7:41.50 at the Gwangju World Championships. It was the unity and cooperation of the girls that made The first Olympic relay gold medal in Chinese swimming. Yang Junxuan sighed after the game: "If there is a miracle, it must be Chinese red! ”

Behind this gold medal is also the active struggle as the head coach of the project, Wang Aimin. Because before the Tokyo Olympic Games, Yang Junxuan and Zhang Yufei signed up for the other two relays and did not choose this project, but when the preliminary round was over, Wang Aimin and several coaches had many discussions and predictions, believing that if they could join this relay event, the Chinese team was expected to win medals and achieve the goal of winning glory for the country. "After the preliminary tour, the coaching team fully analyzed and discussed the international situation of this project, and finally put forward the hope that Yang Junxuan and Zhang Yufei could enter the final list, and later reported to the regimental headquarters, and the leaders knew that our front-line coaches were very aware of the situation, so they approved the implementation." Wang Aimin recalled, "Although from the analysis of paper, the australian team and the American team are several seconds faster than us, but we just 'don't believe in evil'. As long as we can swim out the momentum and the best results, then the possibility of breaking the world record and winning the gold medal exists. In the process of platooning, Cui Dengrong's guidance, Zhu Zhigen's guidance, and Han Bingyan's coach all provided very valuable analytical opinions. We also considered several options at that time, and finally decided on the number of final baseballs that everyone saw. Relatively speaking, the 4 of them are young and are growing rapidly, so I hope they can play a momentum. When I gave them a pre-match mobilization, I said, 'Miracles are created by people, especially in the big game, and any kind of miracle can happen'. The children worked very hard, played very well, handed over the baton very well, exceeded our expectations, and can be said to be on the basis of greatly improving their achievements, playing a morale and a tenacious and hard-working style. ”

Looking back on what happened at that time now, Wang Aimin's blood is still boiling. This is Yang Junxuan's first Olympic trip, she won the gold medal in the women's 4×200m freestyle relay and the silver medal in the men's and women's 4×100m medley relay, ranking fourth in the individual 200m freestyle event. Wang Aimin gave Yang Junxuan a high score of 95 points, but he still had higher expectations for his beloved disciple. "She performed well and had a very good grasp and execution of the coach's intentions throughout the game, which was a perfect score. However, due to his young age, the first time to participate in the Olympic Games is still relatively nervous, the 200-meter freestyle single event swim to the last 50 meters can not stand up, if the front swim a little looser will be better. I hope that in 3 years, she will be able to make a breakthrough in the individual event at the Paris Olympic Games. ”

Just as Wang Aimin was charging ahead at the Tokyo Olympics, his father was seriously ill and was being treated in the hospital. Speaking of this, Wang Aimin once choked up. In the sprint stage of preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games, Wang Aimin's father was admitted to the hospital because of a sudden large-scale cerebral infarction, when the situation of the elderly was very bad, and the feedback from the doctor made Wang Aimin particularly sentimental, he was afraid that he would not be able to see the last side of his father because he went to Tokyo. But he never forgot what his father had always told him to do first, so he resolutely went to Tokyo. The concern for his father made him often in a state of anxiety, the rest was not good, he had a heart of ill asthma, and he had not fully recovered until now. Fortunately, his father's condition was controlled and gradually improved, and the old man was very happy after learning that Wang Aimin's relay project won the gold medal.

"To do one thing in a lifetime, only by adhering to the right direction can we succeed, we must not forget the original intention, persevere, adhere to persistence, there is no shortcut at all." Wang Aimin, who has been coaching for many years, has been enjoying his career of teaching sports people, and he feels a great sense of accomplishment as he watches his children grow into talents. He hopes to cultivate children into people with complete personalities, and hopes that they will have a high ideological realm, good moral character, cultural literacy, an open mind, a lofty ideal goal, and a tenacious will. Being able to shine in the career he loves, the road to achieving the ideal is bitter but everything is worth it, wang Aimin believes that he is lucky.

In the national swimming team, Wang Aimin is known as a "Confucian general", he writes well, and often has the feeling to create some poems. At the theme study meeting of the national team to learn the heroic model of the anti-epidemic, Wang Aimin once expressed his heart with a poem: "Before there were white-clad angels who retrograde to the plague, which eventually made the disease timid; now there are athletes who are willing to walk in the bitterness, and the Olympic Games will surely succeed." Wang Aimin said that "Confucian General" is everyone's praise and love for him, and he believes that practicing calligraphy and poetry creation can help him calm down and think, which is of great help to the formation of teaching ideas and the shaping of personality. Under his influence, Yang Junxuan also began to practice calligraphy, which also made Yang Junxuan, who originally liked to paint, become more literary. The sensible Yang Junxuan would send him a portrait every year on Wang Aimin's Birthday, which made Wang Aimin very moved.

The father-daughter mentor-apprentice pair has set their sights on Paris, and next year they will use the Fukuoka World Championships and the Hangzhou Asian Games as the "middle school entrance examination" to fully prepare for the "big test" of the Paris Olympic Games. Wang Aimin's goal is firm: "At the Tokyo Olympics, we won the gold medal in the women's 4×200m freestyle relay, and we will strive to defend our title at the Paris Olympics, and hope that Yang Junxuan will achieve a breakthrough in the 200-meter freestyle single event, and if we can get the single gold medal, it will be more complete." ”
