Ketang YA tells the story of scientists
In the road to China's rise, there is always such a group of people who closely link their personal ideals with the needs of the country and the future of the nation, and write loyalty and dedication in their respective fields. Ketang launched a special edition of Ketang YA Telling Scientist Stories, introducing the stories of five outstanding scientists in New China, feeling their patriotic, innovative, truth-seeking, dedicated, collaborative, and educating scientists; and also feeling that under the strong leadership of the party, The rapid progress of China's scientific and technological undertakings has brought great changes to social development and people's lives.
Scientists review - cast armor to protect the country, bright swords for the people

01 Petrochemical catalyst expert - Min Enze
Oil is the blood of industry, but oil must be refined before it can be used. In the 1950s, China was almost completely blank in refining technology, and refineries were built with soviet aid. In early 1964, the Soviet Union stopped supplying pellet silicon-aluminum cracking catalysts to our country. This is a catalyst used to produce aviation gasoline. Without aviation gasoline, the plane wouldn't be able to get on the sky. At the time, we had only enough of this catalyst in stock for half a year.
Min Enze was appointed as the technical leader. The state has also allocated a large number of scientific researchers to jointly tackle key problems. Min Enze led the researchers to eat and live on the factory floor, usually at 1 a.m., everyone took the time to sit down together for a meeting. After more than 3 months of hard work around the clock, we finally tried to produce a small ball silicon aluminum cracking catalyst in China. Not only does it ensure the production of aviation gasoline in China in a timely manner, but also through technological innovation, the integrity rate of the small balls reaches 92%, exceeding the level of 86% of the imported catalysts.
Min Enze is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and an expert in petrochemical catalysts. Several upgrades of China's oil products are inseparable from the catalyst manufacturing technology laid by Min Enze.

Applied science of oil refining catalysis, independent innovation of petrochemical technology and green chemistry
02 Chinese neurosurgery pioneer - Wang Zhongzhong
In the 1950s, the first method of diagnosing brain diseases in China was gasiography, which was 2% to 3% dangerous, and patients had to endure great pain and headaches. At this time, there are already more advanced cerebral angiography techniques abroad, the danger has dropped to 0.1% to 0.3%, patients basically do not feel pain, and this technology is blocked by the West.
To this end, throughout the summer, Wang Zhongzhong and his companions soaked in an airtight room in the hospital, repeatedly conducted research and experiments on corpses, and they were exposed to radiation countless times without protection, and finally successfully mastered cerebral angiography technology on their own.
Wang Zhongzhong is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a neurosurgery expert, and one of the pioneers and founders of neurosurgery in China. He was the only doctor in the world to have completed more than 10,000 craniotomy operations, and is known as the "soul of ten thousand cranials"
What is the monograph that has made the level of neurosurgical diagnosis in our country step by step across 30 years?
Cerebral Angiography
03 The father of China's early warning aircraft - Wang Xiaomo
In 1969, in order to resist the infiltration of foreign enemies and respond to the strategic concept of the construction of the third line, Wang Xiaomo and his colleagues from the Fourteen Institutes went through hardships to Daping Town, Duyun City, Guizhou Province, and established a new research institute, the 38th Research Institute of the Ministry of Electronics Industry (now the 38th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation).
It was a difficult time, while building construction, installation and production became their norm, 13 years of silent efforts, in exchange for the birth of China's first three-coordinate radar.
Wang Xiaomo is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a famous radar expert in China, and a pioneer and founder of China's modern early warning aircraft. He built a clairvoyant in the air for China and built a new Great Wall for national defense.
What is it called the "Air Marshal's Mansion"?
Early warning aircraft
04 Protection engineering expert - Qian Qihu
With the continuous updating of reconnaissance means and the emergence of high-tech weapons and precision-guided weapons, protection projects are often "unable to hide and resist" in highly transparent battlefields, especially the world's military powers have begun to develop precision-guided drilling bombs, which have posed a huge threat to protection projects.
"The 'spear' has been upgraded, and our 'shield' must be upgraded in time." After more than 10 years of research, he and his team constructed a model of friction within the confined area of the fracture area, studied the irreversible motion law of the engineering earthquake induced by ground impact and the incubation and evolution mechanism of deep construction catastrophe, provided a theoretical basis for the design and construction of the anti-drilling nuclear weapon protection project, and also installed the "golden bell cover" for the safety of China's strategic project.
Qian Qihu is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in protection engineering, an expert in military engineering, and the founder of the discipline of protection engineering in China. He applied what he had learned throughout his life to the great cause of socialist modernization without reservation, and forged the "Great Wall of Underground Steel."
What are qian qihu's results in the experiment of anti-nuclear shock wave effect?
The hangar gate with the largest span and the highest resistance at that time was designed to resist the shock wave of nuclear explosion
05 The father of China's rare earths - Xu Guangxian
In the 1970s, Xu Guangxian was tasked by the state to study our own rare earth refining process. Under the guidance of rich theoretical experience, he skips the methods commonly used abroad and directly studies the extraction and separation technology that has not been touched abroad.
After a large number of comparative extractants and repeated experiments, Xu Guangxian's team overcame the limitations of the "push-pull system" proposed by the American chemist Bauer and innovated a set of cascade extraction theory for rare earth separation. The trickle of China's rare earth cascade extraction research has since begun and gradually converged into today's surging tide.
Xu Guangxian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, physical chemist, inorganic chemist and educator, is known as the "father of China's rare earths". His scientific research achievements have transformed China from a big country of rare earth resources into a big country of production and application, creating a legend of Rare Earth in China.
Xu Guangxian's original rare earth separation process is?
Rare earth separation "three outlets" process
