Cheng Gong: Doctoral supervisor, PI of Tsinghua University School of Medicine (Independent Researcher of Teaching and Research Series), PI of Tsinghua University-Peking University Joint Center for Life Sciences

Cheng Gong's laboratory research focuses on the pathogenic mechanism of Arthropod-borne virus and vaccine research and development. The research mainly involves the infection mechanism of dengue virus, Japanese Encephalitis virus, Chikungunya virus and other mosquito-borne viruses in mammalian hosts and arthropod vectors, hoping to identify host proteins highly correlated with viral infections through a variety of experimental means, and use the isolated host proteins as targets to develop interventions to inhibit mosquito-borne virus infection and block virus transmission in nature.

For the epidemic, all countries in the world are a community of destiny, and all countries must strike a delicate balance between protecting health, preventing economic and social unrest, and respecting human rights. China's experience shows that the epidemic can be controlled. Countries around the world should actively test, treat, isolate and mobilize people to respond to this epidemic. In order to effectively control the outbreak, countries with no reported cases should be fully prepared for testing and prevention. WHO has also repeatedly stressed that the Chinese model is an effective means of fighting the virus, and countries with severe epidemics can have "China's experience" as a reference. At the same time, to strengthen global cooperation and innovation, all countries have lessons to share, and the world should work together to overcome difficulties.
