On October 11, the 2020 United Nations Biodiversity Conference was officially opened in Kunming, Yunnan. More than 5,000 delegates from more than 140 Parties and more than 30 international institutions and organizations participated in the conference through a combination of online and offline methods.
With the theme of "Ecological Civilization: Building a Community of Life on Earth", the Kunming Conference promoted the formulation of the "Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework". At the opening ceremony, Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment, and Mohamed Badri, Egyptian Ambassador to China under the CHAIRMANship of COP14, handed over the rostrum at the venue and opened COP15 time.
