The day before yesterday, Li Xinze, former party secretary and general manager of the Guangzhou branch of China Mobile Communications Group, was charged with accepting bribes of more than 8 million yuan and was tried. Yesterday, another former executive was suspected of taking bribes. Zheng Chuan, who was tried as the general manager of the Guangzhou branch before Li Xinze, was suspected of accepting bribes of 4.5 million yuan, which he denied in court.

Zheng Chuan is 49 years old. According to the allegations, from 2003 to 2008, Zheng Chuan took advantage of his position as deputy general manager and general manager of the Guangzhou branch of China Mobile Communications Group Guangdong Co., Ltd. to provide assistance to Lin Guangshan in the process of undertaking engineering projects such as civil engineering, service hall decoration, and machine building decoration of the company's base station supporting civil engineering, service hall decoration, and machine building decoration.

Prosecutors allege that in early December 2012, the end of December 2012, and the end of January 2013, Zheng Chuan, through his nephew Jiang Mouhua, accepted bribes from Lin Guangshan on three occasions, including RMB1.5 million, RMB1 million and RMB2 million, totaling RMB4.5 million.

Yesterday's trial lasted from more than 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Mr. Zheng insisted that he had not accepted bribes, repeatedly stressing that he had not given priority to Mr. Lin's company. The prosecutor pointed out that the confessions of many people involved in the case all said that Zheng Chuan had a close relationship with Lin Guangshan, introduced his subordinates to Lin Guangshan's understanding, and repeatedly explained that his subordinates gave priority to Lin Guangshan's company.

Zheng Chuan hired lawyer Tian Wenchang, director of the Criminal Practice Committee of the All-China Lawyers Association, to defend his innocence, and during the trial, the two sides conducted a fierce defense against the exclusion of illegal evidence. It is reported that the case was not pronounced in court.
