Richards Amherst hosts the Immigrant Resources Fair

author:American Overseas Chinese Daily Network

Queens Mayor Donovan Richards recently held an immigration resource expo in Emhurst, Queens, gathering dozens of government agencies and non-profit organizations to provide services on the spot, attracting hundreds of immigrants to consult, of which the application of the New York State 'Excluded Workers Fund' (Excluded Workers Fund) has attracted the most attention from immigrants.

Richards said that there are about 1 million immigrants in Queens, and Emhurst is one of the most diverse communities in Queens, and he is pleased to choose this place to host the inaugural Immigrant Resource Expo to help immigrant families in a more convenient and direct way. Dozens of government agencies and nonprofit organizations, including the South Asia Community Service Center (SACSS), the Asian Equality Association, New York Reed and the Mayor's Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIA), were present.

The New York State Excluded Workers Fund is a one-time unemployment benefit of up to $15,600 for undocumented immigrants who lost their jobs or income during the COVID-19 pandemic and for unemployed people who do not qualify for federal bailouts. On that day, most of the immigrants present lined up to report on the benefit application. State Sen. Jessica Ramos said the critical relief package could provide timely relief to the large number of undocumented immigrants who lost their jobs and help them weather the storm. She encourages eligible candidates to visit fundexcludedworkers.org enquire about their application for details or contact their office at 718-205-3881.
