The 2018 Shanghai Book Fair & "Book China" Shanghai Week will be held from August 15 to 21 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, marking the 15th year of the Shanghai Book Fair.

As an important sub-brand of the Shanghai Book Fair, the Shanghai International Literature Week, co-sponsored by the Book Fair Organizing Committee and the Shanghai Writers Association, will usher in the 8th edition.

A total of more than 40 events are held each week

The theme of this year's International Literature Week is "The Meaning of Travel". Travel as literature and travel as life has become significant today, but it is also difficult. How to continue to recognize the familiar theme word "travel" and update its meaning is the expectation of this Shanghai International Literature Week.

It is reported that this year's Shanghai International Literature Week will welcome 28 Chinese and foreign writers, poets and scholars, and will hold a series of cooperation activities such as the main forum, poetry night and Shanghai International Literature Week - London Book and Screen Week cooperation, as well as literary dialogue, literary lectures, new book launches, reader exchanges and other forms of literary activities.

From the opening on August 14 to August 20, more than 40 events were held in a week.

A literary event with international influence

The Shanghai International Literature Week, which began in 2011, is an annual literary carnival.

In the past seven years, the Organizing Committee of Literature Week has combined the global literary trends and hot spots of that year to plan corresponding themes, including cities, videos, book reviews, translation, oriental, Shakespeare, science fiction and other key theme words.

As a phenomenal event platform for Chinese writers to dialogue with world writers and Chinese literature to dialogue with world literature, Shanghai International Literature Week has invited more than 200 Chinese and foreign writers, scholars and cultural figures to gather in Shanghai, including Mo Yan, Leclercchio, v.s. Naipaul, Alexievich and other Nobel Laureates in Literature, to express their insights, share experiences and exchange views on these global literary themes.

Over the years, the Shanghai International Literature Week has become a literary event with international influence. Shanghai International Literature Week signed a cooperation agreement with the "London Book Fair • London Book and Screen Week", and in the past three years, writers have been sent to participate in the Shanghai Book Fair and the London Book Fair, providing a cross-cultural exchange platform for Chinese and British writers, and paving the way for Chinese literature and writers to "go global".

The Times Literary Supplement, an English-speaking World Book Review magazine that has been founded for more than a century, has been running free image ads for Shanghai International Literature Week for four consecutive years based on "recognition" and "appreciation", and continues to deepen this literary cooperation.

The 8th Shanghai International Literature Week is jointly sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Press and Publication Bureau, Shanghai Writers Association and Publicity Department of Hongkou District Party Committee, and co-organized by Hongkou District Cultural Bureau, Jiantou Bookstore, Sinan Mansion, Writers Bookstore, smg Art and Humanities Channel, etc.
