Tang monks and apprentices successfully completed the task of taking the scriptures from the Western Heavens after countless hardships, the Buddha was rewarded for his merits, the Tang monks were named the Buddhas of The Virtue of The Sandalwood, Sun Wukong defeated the Buddha, the Eight Precepts of the Pig were the messengers of the Pure Altar, and the Sand Monks were the golden arhats.
The Eight Precepts of the Pig and the Sand Monk did not become Buddhas because they did not practice enough, and Sun Wukong became a Buddha of course, because he was the most meritorious. But Tang Monk did not wrongfully accuse Sun Wukong all the way, why could he finally become a Buddha?
It turns out that Tang Monk has many excellent qualities that others do not have, and you can see what the original text says.
He does not love glory with all his heart, but only likes to practice silence.
Tang Taizong's mansion returned the soul, because of the grace of increasing the twenty-year shouyuan, according to the agreement to hold a water and land conference to return the wish, so let the ministers elect a high monk to preside over this matter, and the ministers finally recommended the Tang monks, the reason is:
"This man, who has been a monk since childhood, has been born into his womb, and has been fasting and ordained... He does not love glory with all his heart, but only likes to practice silence. ”
Tang Monk began to accept Zen meditation from how old he was, that is, the day after he was born, his mother Yin Wenjiao was afraid that he would be killed by the water thief Liu Hong, so she threw him into the Hongjiang River and was then saved by the Invention Elder at the Golden Mountain Temple.
Tang Monk's career began at this time.
In fact, tang monks not only practiced this life, he practiced for ten lifetimes, and the tenth generation was a monk, and they all insisted on going to the Western Heavens to learn the scriptures, which the sand monks said in the Quicksand River and Guanyin Bodhisattva, because the people who took the scriptures in the previous nine lifetimes let him eat, and he did not dare to hide it.
The nature of the Yuan Ming can not eat
Tang Monk walked to Shuangchaling and was captured alive by General Yin, and his two retinue were immediately eaten by General Yin, Xiong Shanjun, and Special Sergeant, and he was rescued by Taibai Venus that night.
Why Tang Monk was able to survive was not that the demons were unwilling and did not dare to eat him, but that they could not eat him at all, and Taibai Venus gave Tang Monk a reassuring pill:
"Only because of your nature is clear, so I can't eat you."
What does "nature yuanming" mean? That is to say, the Tang monks are pure in thought, noble in morality, transparent in heart, and spotless, and this innate temperament of devotion to the Buddha has formed a mighty and powerful force, which is sacred and inviolable in the eyes of the monster.
This is also the reason why Tang Monk was able to stand out from the tens of millions of senior monks to preside over the Water and Land Conference, because he had good roots and high morals, and was obviously much higher than others.
High level of understanding
The reason why Tang Monk was entrusted with a heavy responsibility was not only because his previous life was the second disciple of the Buddha, but also because he had a high level of education, good comprehensive quality, and both ability and political integrity, in the words of the Tang Dynasty ministers:
"Virtue is high. Thousands of scriptures, all-encompassing; Buddha trumpet immortal sounds, nothing will be. ”
This was verified again at Mount Futu, when Master Wuchao passed on the Multi-Heart Sutra to him, and only dictated it to him once, but he did not expect to remember it on the spot:
"Once you hear the Multi-Heart Sutra, you can remember it and pass it on to the world."
Tang Monk not only remembered, but also quickly understood the true meaning, and he also turned over the Floating Tu Mountain to the Huangfeng Ridge for a while:
"Master Xuanzang has thoroughly understood the Many Hearts Sutra and opened the portal, and the elder has always thought about it, and a little inspiration is self-expansive."
Qualitatively, the mind of Zen is strong
The basic skill of the monk is zazen, Tang monk is the first senior monk of the Tang Dynasty, zazen kung fu is naturally first-class, this is what he personally said to Sun Wukong when he competed with the Tiger Force Immortal:
"When I was a child, I met a Zen monk on fang and preached that life was fundamentally a god, and I sat in the gate of death and life for two or three years."
Tang Monk is a model of observing the Three Conversions and Five Precepts in Journey to the West, he never lies, which even Sun Wukong is convinced of, which shows that Tang Monk's words should not have a little moisture, and his sitting skills are really powerful.
Meditation is the cultivation of the mind, and only by being firm in the mind can we achieve positive results.
In fact, from the very beginning, Tang Monk insisted on this view, and he began to warn Sun Wukong at the foot of the Five Elements Mountain that "it is better to die than to commit murder", he said so, did it, and persisted until the end.
The tenth life of Tang Monk's practice is the process of continuously developing himself, perfecting himself, surpassing himself, and finally reaching perfection, he has many advantages and many strengths, so in the end he became a Buddha.
