These U.S. prisoners were the latter, and it turned out that the original living standards of these prisoners were too high, and meat products and dairy products and all kinds of high-protein and high-fat foods accounted for a very high proportion of their diet, but after entering the volunteer prisoner camp, the volunteers themselves could not eat these foods, so how to provide them?
But no matter what the real reason was, the Americans just grabbed the inexplicable death of the prisoners of war, trumpeted rumors, and attacked the volunteers. The volunteers had to change their tactics, no longer insisting that captured prisoners must be sent to the camp, but flexibly mastering.
If, in the midst of fierce fighting, there are not enough men to escort the captives in custody, the captives are disarmed and released on the spot. If they are wounded, especially seriously wounded prisoners of war, they are carried on stretchers to a place where the U.S. military can see, and even greet the U.S. military to get up and accept. This act of benevolence and righteousness can be seen everywhere, so that many US troops have witnessed it with their own eyes, and they have all been touched by the lofty humanitarian feelings of the volunteer army, and slowly, the rumors of the US military attacking the Chinese volunteer army have not been dispelled.

Another plan was for the troops to release some sick and wounded prisoners, and deliberately "opened a small time" to 27 of them, revealing to them some "secrets", such as our army hastily entering the DPRK, the logistical supply could not keep up, and they could not eat enough.

The captives were then released and returned to the U.S. army, so they told the commander these "secrets", and finally the intelligence was summarized to MacArthur, and sure enough, the arrogant MacArthur believed that the volunteer army was just a show for the Soviets to see, and did not dare to launch a larger war against the American army.
So MacArthur not only did not be cautious, but more rampantly formulated a plan for the attack on the volunteer army, and "packed the ticket" to the world: the war will definitely end before Christmas, and after eliminating the volunteer army, the American army can go home for the holiday.
It was in this light enemy mentality that the second battle was fought in the snow, and the brave and tenacious officers and men of the volunteer army, climbing the ice and lying on the snow, with a fearless spirit of sacrifice, once again completely defeated the US army, so that the US army really understood the strength of the volunteer army, and for the first time made them realize what kind of tough opponent they were standing in front of them.
