Filled with natural light flowing from the central "patio" to the exhibition space, the project forms an atrium with a double spiral staircase that reinterprets the principles of traditional contemporary Chinese architecture. Tadao Ando is dominated by circular exhibition spaces, drawing inspiration from the waterside pavilions found in Lingnan's cultural heritage.

Children's Forest Library

A children's book forest designed by Tadao ando is located in Nakanoshima Park in Osaka, Japan, and the colorful books are impressive. The famous Japanese architect is known for his emphasis on simplicity and spatial complexity. In his latest children's library, he maintains an open and uncluttered indoor environment by integrating books and shelf units into the building. The curved walls have mesh-like pockets, each with an outward-facing book, which in itself becomes a charming decorative element of the space.

The newly completed Nakanoshima Children's Book Forest (Kodomo honnomori nakanoshima) was donated to Osaka City by Tadao ando. The project aims to provide children and adults with a chance to breathe from the fast-paced, immediate digital age. The library commented: "The line between information flow, mainly from social media, and printed book information that cannot be edited immediately is becoming blurred." The interior design of the book is clever, not categorized by genre or age, and encourages the reader's spontaneity and exploration.

Tadao Ando pays attention to scale to organize the space, which rises three levels upwards, defining more intimate areas through low, sloping ceilings. These three-story sections are the most striking for the mesh shelves, occasionally interrupted by narrow vertical windows. The choice of library evaluation: "We use a new method to give books to children's books, from the stories of children's picture books, from picture books that children can appreciate, children's stories, children's literature, short stories, reference books in different fields, books in natural sciences, art books, etc., in a way, allowing them to appreciate these books in a neutral way." 」

Surrounded by cherry blossom trees, Tadao Ando wanted to create a structure that would make the park a better place, just a five-minute walk from Shibuya Station, and he designed the toilet.

"I'm trying to make this little building go beyond the boundaries of public toilets and become a 'place' in the urban landscape that offers tremendous public value," Ando said.

"Using the clarity and simple reasoning of this structural concept, I chose to use a circular plane with a spanning roof and engawa (Japanese portico)."

Circular toilets, including a men's restroom, a women's restroom and an external sink, are enclosed by vertical metal shutters. This wall creates privacy while allowing air to circulate.

The entire building is covered by a sloping roof that hangs over the toilet to provide shade.

"Creating a comfortable and safe space is very important to me," Ando said. "Visitors can move within the cylindrical walls of the vertical shutters and feel the comfort of the wind and light from their surroundings," he continued.

"A sense of security will be emphasized by the freedom and centripetal cycle through the other side." This toilet, hidden in the greenery of Golden State Dolly Park, will be called "amayadori".
