The Dongyi people are the earliest "indigenous people" in Jinan.
Why did dongyi people choose Jinan? The reason is that Jinan's natural conditions are too superior.
Civilizations around the world either arose beneath mountains or flourished on the banks of great rivers. Jinan, on the other hand, is a place with mountains and rivers.

Jinan scenery
In Jinan, there is Mount Tai, known as the "Dignity of the Five Mountains", in the south, and Jishui, one of the "Four Defilements", in the north. Between the Taishan Mountains and Jishui, there are pieces of east-west band-like slopes and alluvial plains. The "Jinan people" of ancient times lived in these areas.
Some people have joked that today's Jinan City is shaped like a fritter, which certainly has the reason for urban construction, but more critical is the terrain restrictions. The direction of Mount Taishan and Jishui determined that Jinan could only develop in an east-west direction for a long time. Some people may say that you can go to the north of Jishui to develop. Just look at the terrain, this idea does not hold at all.
Jishui no longer exists. Today's Jinan section of the Yellow River is generally the Jishui Old Road. The north of Jishui is indeed an alluvial plain, and the soil is fertile, but the terrain in this area is low. During the flood season, rivers such as the Yellow River are very easy to flood or even divert. Therefore, for most of the time, the Jibei Plain was not suitable for human habitation, let alone economic development. Now the people of Jinan dare to propose "cross-river development", also because there are advanced flood control technologies as a guarantee.
Zhangqiu Xiaojingshan Ruins
Let's talk about the terrain, let's talk about the climate. About 10,000 years ago, the last glacial period on Earth ended and temperatures began to rise. At that time, the Yellow River Basin belonged to a more typical subtropical climate. Under such climatic conditions, the ecological environment around Jinan is extremely superior.
The living conditions of wild animals are regarded as a barometer of a local ecological environment. Archaeologists have found 717 animal remains in the Xiaojingshan site in Zhangqiu, which are roughly divided into five categories: mollusks, fish, reptiles, birds and mammals. It can represent at least 22 species. Specifically, there are a variety of wedge mussels, clams, fish, turtles, foxes, wild boars and wolves. From the remains of these animals, it can be seen that Jinan in ancient times was a paradise for animals.
Time comes to the early days of Dawenkou culture. At this time, the earth generally warmed up, the temperature was four or five degrees higher than it is now, and there was more rainfall. According to archaeological data, the vegetation of Jinan at this time was dominated by broad-leaved tree species and contained a small amount of subtropical plant components. Mountain forests are overgrown, reed meadows are dense, river valleys and lakes are developed, and the water area is large. In the late Dawenkou culture, the temperature began to drop, but in general it was still higher than it is now, adapting to the survival of animals.
The paradise of animals is naturally also the paradise of mankind. The ancient people of Jinan relied on these animals to survive tenaciously. And created an amazing civilization.
