In the Marvel movie "Black Panther," wakanda, a mysterious country in Africa, produces a rare metal called "vibranium." The plot of the film gave inspiration to an ocean exploration group. The researchers found new species in the waters of Zanzibar, Tanzania, named after "Wakanda" and "Vibranium".
Members of the Coral Hope project at the California Science Museum and ichthyologists at the University of Sydney in Australia dived to about 79 meters underwater and found this purple fish. The chain-like arrangement of fish scales reminded scientists of the sturdy suit made of "Vibrating Gold" in "Black Panther", so the scientific name of this fish was set as "Wakanda Silk Head Fish", and the common name was set as "Zhenjin Fairy Seych".
The study was published by the international biological journal Biokey.
