In November 2004, Jinling, Nanjing University, Ye Jiaying, then 80-year-old poet, gave a speech on classical poetry, entitled "From Li Qingzhao to Shen Zudi", which was intended to explore the promotion and evolution of the aesthetic characteristics of women's words. In her speech, Ye Jiaying called Shen Zudi a "collector" of women's lyrics, believing that Shen's lyrics were "not only rare good words in women's works, but also rare good words in men's works", "She wrote the same 'scholar's words', 'poet's words' and 'historian's words' like men, and wrote different styles and different works, which is really a collection of authors." ”
In 1930, Shen Zudi was admitted to the Shanghai Business School of Central University, but soon after entering the school, Zu Di found that her profession was inconsistent with her temperament, and she was influenced by new literature, and she also liked to write new poems and novels in her spare time. In 1931, Shen Zudi transferred to the Department of Chinese Literature and moved from Shanghai to the Nanjing headquarters of Central University. At that time, the faculty of the Central University was strong, not only there were lexicographers such as Wang Dong and Wu Mei, but also language and writing people such as Huang Kan and Hu Xiaoshi. Here, Shen Zudi received systematic and complete learning, received strict academic training, and laid the foundation for her to become a generation of lyricists.

In the 5 years of immersion in studying in Nanjing, Shen Zudi not only learned words with his teachers, but also liked to participate in gatherings between teachers and friends in his spare time, leaving their traces and groans everywhere in the ancient capital of Jinling. This kind of literati collection is not only a leisure pastime, but also a good opportunity to promote each other and improve the level of poetry. On the night of the winter solstice in 1934, Shen Zudi and You Shou and other classmates went to Wu Mei's home for the festival, and after the meal, everyone played a game of sentences together and made music together, showing a kind of literati fun. On weekdays, teachers and students also sing harmony with each other and like to meet friends in Israelite. Hu Xiaoshi, Wang Dong, and Wu Mei all sang and wrote with Shen Zudi.
Out of love for poetry, the talented women of Nanjing Central University at that time imitated the ancient custom of literati association and established their word society "Meishe" in front of the Six Dynasties Pine Tree in Mei'an. They gathered every two weeks, took turns to do the east, visited the scenic spots and monuments in Nanjing together and filled in a word, and then presented them to the teacher for correction. These girls are in their youth, like the poetry club in the Grand View Garden of "Dream of the Red Chamber", they also gave themselves pen names, all of which chose the name of the word in the dictionary, which seemed to be interesting. At the same time, the girls also like to compare themselves with the "Jinling Twelve Chao" in "Dream of the Red Chamber", such as Wei Suqiu is Tanchun, Shen Zudi is Baoqin, and their teacher Wang Dong is Jia Zheng. When the teacher learned about it, he was not even angry, and he also wrote a poem to give to them, and the last two sentences were clouded: "Suddenly laughed in the dream of falling into the building, the old husband once had a teenager." This shows the friendship and mutual understanding between teachers and students.

It turns out that Shen is not only a studious talented girl, but also a beautiful person. The teacher Wu Mei recorded the first meeting in her diary, saying that "Shen Jimei is also a Wu person, and my wife is quite committed."
In fact, Shen Zudi's interest in poetry did not begin in college, but was influenced by his family from an early age. She was born in Suzhou into a family of scholars and is the eldest granddaughter of a large family. Her great-grandfather is listed in the "History of the Qing Dynasty", and her grandfather retired from retirement for many years, and the people who interacted with her were the famous Suzhou scholars Wu Changshuo and Zhu Xiaozang. The grandmother who raised her from childhood is also from a famous family of hereditary knights in Fujian. The shen family's old residence is a beautiful Suzhou garden, divided into three roads and five entrances, of which the "four hours of reading music" gate tower was designated as a municipal cultural protection unit in 1963. Growing up in the garden, Shen Zudi received a traditional and modern boudoir education, and the family hired a private school for her to teach English, Chinese, arithmetic and embroidery. In addition, she also studied Chinese painting and Western painting. Every year, when the autumn wind rises, the family will place hundreds of pots of chrysanthemums in the back flower hall to form a chrysanthemum mountain, and everyone will drink together and chant poems to the moon. Zu Di said that she was "born in Jiangnan, Hengtang Spring Water Blue", she "home near Wumen Drinking Horse Bridge, distant mountains like dai water like cream".
Suzhou's hometown has also become her lifelong memory and concern, until she was old, she still lamented in her poems: "Life only lives in Sioux City, and the stones and flowers have feelings." ”
