Guan Yu in history is more powerful than in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms
We all know that "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" is a novel, and there are many fictional components.
However, the real Guan Yu in history is actually more powerful than described in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which can be seen from his killing of Yan Liang.
In the Three Kingdoms period, because stirrups had not yet been invented, when riding a horse, you had to hold the horse's back or lead the horse to drive the horse, there was no extra hand to hold a weapon, in this case, it was actually very difficult to ride on a horse and fight with a weapon.
As described in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it is rare for the generals of the two armies to fight head-to-head in front of the battle, and it is almost impossible to kill the enemy generals at once.
But Guan Yu did it, and Guan Yu is the only record in the history of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms that takes the head of the enemy general from the Wanjun Army.
According to the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, during the Battle of the White Horse, Guan Yu saw Yan Liang under the banner of the marshal from a distance, he rushed into the battle with a spear and a fast horse, stabbed Yan Liang in public in thousands of troops, and then cut off his head and returned, and none of the generals in Yuan Shao's army could stop Guan Yu.
Chen Shou, the author of the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, was a Shu Han man during the Three Kingdoms period, and his age was only a few decades away from Guan Yu, and this record should be relatively accurate.
